What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

We're famous...but not happy about it.

Our little church was on the news today (my sister saw it.) Not for a good reason though...Our church is flooded. The water surrounding it on all sides is two feet deep. The basement is full of water and the entryway must be soaked as well. No one can get into the building to assess the damages (and maybe we don't want to...). There are many roads closed in Owego, so when we were travelling home from Ma and Pa Newman's house-we had to try several alternate routes only to find more roads closed. The street that our church is on has been evacuated as of last night and a couple who owns a Chinese restaurant had to be resued by boat when they didn't heed the evacuation orders. Schools have been closed and Parks are so flooded the street signs are under water.
Keep us in your prayers...and all those who are being affected by this. Times like this certainly make you ponder the magnitude of the first whole earth flood and marvel at the covenant God makes with Noah as a result.

Boy, Scott wasn't exaggerating when he quoted the Man in Black.

I will think of you three and all other C+C members during this time. I'm so glad that everyone is safe but groan at the thought of what the downstairs looks like. Please keep us updated when you learn more. I wish there was something I could do...

(Is the bookstore flooded, too? After concern for people's safety and the flooding of the church building, that was the first thing that came to mind...)

Well-at this very moment water is all the way to the top of the basement stairs. The highest point of water stopped at the last step to the Sanctuary. Literally, inches from flooding and devestating EVERYTHING. Everything downstairs is RUINED...but the books are safe upstairs. No more CD sets, lectures, or Tape sets though. I really enjoyed listening to them!

I am so sad...but I am trying to focus on being thankful for all that there IS to be thankful for.

Matt, Matt Z. and Vern are all over to the church now, pumping water out. The water has receded enough so they could get into the church...but where will they PUT the water? Whow knows...

Rebecca,

If there is anything that Scott and I can do, please let us know.

Maybe the cd's themselves will be salvageable since they are just plastic.

God is sovereign and He has a plan. He will help us through this hard time.
