Week One of 2007

Today has been a busy day-I feel like sleeping...truly...but I have about 2 1/2 dozen homemade meatballs browning in the oven, so press onward I must.

Today at around 5:00am, a friend of mine dropped off her three children for the day as they had to travel to Philidelphia to a hospital. The kids were wonderful, as usual, and were a delight to have over. I am so very impressed with the obvious affection of the siblings toward one another and look forward to seeing such love blossom in my own children as the years progress.
I must say, I think that January is the month for sunrises here! You will probably tire of my sunrise shots, but I can't stop taking them. Because the children were here (they are a bit older), as I noticed the sun's first pink rays I JUMPED up, ran to my coat and on my way out the door I said, "Katie-I am going to take a few pictures-watch Corynn! Megan and Ian-if you want to come-you had better get coming!" With that I jogged to the clearing to snap this photo. They eventually caught up with me and we stood there for a few minutes, taking in the quiet beauty of the morning. What a great start to the day!

Still haven't done the grown up gingerbread houses OR taken down Christmas decorations. But we DID get Mattie's 'new' $300.00 truck! Hurrah for having a vehicle at my disposal! To celebrate, I may go grocery shopping in the middle of the day tomorrow! :-)

I just found your blog - led here because you were "blog of the month"! Congratulations!

I was looking through your posts and you are SO photogenic. Don't let random pictures lead you to believe you aren't. Your post from 12/26(?) is so beautiful.

I am a SAHM of 4 beautiful children - 21- year-old daughter, 18-year-old son, 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old daughter. We also homeschool. My two oldest are now in college, with my oldest in her first apartment. I have homeschooled for the past 14 years or so.

I love reading your adventures. I will keep visiting your site and praying for you and your family. You have beautiful children and obviously a very loving husband. Keep up the good work and have a happy and blessed New Year.

  2. Thank you Gena-and it is a pleasure to 'meet' you! I look forward to your visits-and hope that when I am in my occasional 'homeschool freak-out' (since I was not brought up that way...), you will be willing to pipe up with some of your expertise-because I will surely need it! :-)

  5. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! There can never be too many dawn photos.

Especially since our view of dawn is almost non-existant. Due to terrain and trees and the like. I never see the horizon, as you can. Just the colors, higher up. Which of course, are pretty too. But muted.
