2nd Annual Nature Tree

Recycling our Christmas tree into a Nature tree last year brought so many wonderful hours of enjoyment and gave us such excitement during the usually mundane months of January through March, I decided we ought to make it a tradition. When I took down the Christmas decorations, we didn't take our tree very far. Just as before, we set it up outside our kitchen glass doors.

First we went on a Nature walk (several times, actually) and gathered things we would need like pinecones. We gathered red berries to tuck in the boughs for decoration. (I think next year we will string cranberries!)

Then we made the ornaments, and stretched that out into two days. I added my suet hanger to the TOP of the tree, for the 'star'.




We have a lovely view from our kitchen table. I think, perhaps, the birdies remembered us-because within five minutes of shutting the door, we had our first visitors! It has been great fun watching the different birds come and go. We have seen many.
