Recycling our Christmas tree into a Nature tree last year brought so many wonderful hours of enjoyment and gave us such excitement during the usually mundane months of January through March, I decided we ought to make it a tradition. When I took down the Christmas decorations, we didn't take our tree very far. Just as before, we set it up outside our kitchen glass doors.
First we went on a Nature walk (several times, actually) and gathered things we would need like pinecones. We gathered red berries to tuck in the boughs for decoration. (I think next year we will string cranberries!)
Then we made the ornaments, and stretched that out into two days. I added my suet hanger to the TOP of the tree, for the 'star'.
We have a lovely view from our kitchen table. I think, perhaps, the birdies remembered us-because within five minutes of shutting the door, we had our first visitors! It has been great fun watching the different birds come and go. We have seen many.
I found you through your comment on Dawn's blog. What a wonderful idea! We have an artificial tree :(, but I'm printing this out for next year!

ReplyDeleteOh my, now I'm heartily wishing we didn't have an artificial tree. The photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few year's since I've "seen" you! I'm glad I happened upon your site once again. I remember you as being very crafty and it seems that the Lord is really developing that talent into wonderful things.
Makes me want to go find a tree someone is throwing away. What a good idea! I love your bird photos. They are beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeletePretty tree!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea!
ReplyDeleteOne year, Mike and I drove to the beach just after New Year's. I always wondered what happened to 'old' Christmas trees, and that day I found out...there were hundreds of them lined up along the shore! I guess as some kind of barrier to keep the sand from washing away?
I think using them for our furry and feathered friends is a much nicer idea.
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! You did it! You got rid of that huge and layered Header and all that stufffffffffffff! And now, your blog loads in a flash!!! Oh my Dear, I am so happy!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was traumatic to do. But oh my, I wish you could shout it to the roof-tops. It is wonnnnnderful! It is such a relief to come to your blog and find it LOAD! Zip! Zam! Zowwie and swoop!!! Simply marvelous.
OK. I'll stop now. -gigggles-
