What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Chomp Chomp

A few weeks ago a well-intentioned woman asked whether or not Adele' had been put on cereal.
I laughed. LOUDLY.

I knew, just knew, what her reply to my answer would be. And sure enough...
"Oh my! Well. MY granddaughter went to the doctor and he told HER mother...."

She's only four months old! And let's not KID anyone here: she is not malnourished. I make heavy whipping cream for my babies, as is evidenced by that double chin.

Right. Down. There.

Oh yes. Malnourished my children are not.

Besides, babies don't eat real food. And Adele' is my BABY.

Nibble Nibble

Slobber, gum, gum

suck, slurp, suck

gnaw, munch, snarf

A baby, who I think is teething.

THAT, my friends, is just NOT COOL.

I laughed at this because I too made heavy whipping cream. And butter! She looks perfect to me.

Don't listen!! You are doing great! I nursed all mine for at least 6 months before I even started thinking about food. It's better to wait. Less food allergies. Mine were always little tubbies on just mommy milk. People always have to give you advice like that. They think everyone should do what they did. You should follow you heart and do what you think is best. She is adorable!!

Don't you know that everyone else always knows better than the actual mother? ;-) My dc always had double and triple chins so I must of produced some heavy duty cream as well.

Our three blessings nursed exclusively until they were seven months old. Now at 17, 15, and 13, it would seem that it never did them any harm. And believe me; I got the same comments. But they were healthy and strong babies. My dear step-father-in-law (who never says anything questionable or out of the way) even called me a Guernsey (he grew up on a farm). I thought it was one of the nicest complements anyone has given me.

My question is: What do they think babies fed on before there was baby cereal?

Keep up the good work.

Number three ~of the five children we have~ was the record breaker. She never had a taste of anything other than breast milk until she was ten months old. She is now seventeen, beautiful, and extremely healthy. Do what you are lead to do.

Oh, I love it when everyone else knows whats better for your baby than you do. I can feel my hackles rising right now just thinking about it. I have waited 'til AT LEAST 6 months before giving them food, and most people are horrified by that, certain that I am starving them. Apparently 3 chins and fat bellies are a sure sign of undernourishment.
My favorite why aren't-you-giving-them-food-yet argument is "but they need to know what food tastes like, they probably want something else. They are crying because they want food." No, they are crying because they are teething (and why is everyone stunned when I am right about that?)and how would a baby know what something else tatses like, and that they are missng it in the first place?
I'll jump down off my soap box now...

We're on baby #1, and he is (very obviously) adopted--so we get crazy questions from people all the time. Girl, I feel your pain! ***I need to take a page out of your book, though, and learn to LAUGH when people get too much in my business. :)

Right now, the big question for us is, "Is he walking yet???" Our son is just a little over a year old, and I've had people tell me I should take him to the doctor because he isn't walking on his own yet. I'm trying to be laid-back about it, but...!

Oh, my goodness, why is everyone in such a hurry to push babies into the next phase? Little Adele looks plenty 'plump' enough to me, LOL!
