What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Foto Friday....Learning

So sorry to get the linky up so late today!

I was sorely lacking for inspiration this week-I originally thought it would be very easy to do, since we are homeschoolers after all, but everytime I had an idea it seemed so very...ordinary. Also-I have noticed that my right eye is doing a really bad job at focusing these days (hoping that a new eye prescription will remedy that because if I end up being unable to focus photos I think my world might come crashing down around me. WAaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. Let's hope for the best; let's think HAPPY THOUGHTS!) I took most of these photos this very morning after noticing most of the photos from this week had been blurry as all get out. Which is why this post is coming up so late. *blush* Again, sorry.

Anywho. LEARNING was the theme last week!

*Brought the camera with us on our weekly library trip. There was an old man sitting in a corner chair with the most fabulously defined wrinkles, gnarled fingers, long-scratchy beard and dark plastic framed glasses. The same man who is there the same time we are every week, who sits in the corner chair completely lost in his book. He would have made for a fabulous picture...but I wasn't brave enough to ask him. I am such a wuss.

* a book. (on a mirror) (book check: the Discoverers)

* this year I am going to try and learn how to do our own taxes. We haven't moved. We don't own anything. We don't have our own business. We aren't sitting on millions of dollars of investments. It SHOULD be easy, right?! yikes

* the Panda. Writing.
Totally unrelated, but funny nevertheless: Grandma stopped by for a visit and was telling a story about her neighbor who had a fire. "The chimney didn't have a proper...." and then she stopped to think about the word to use when Andrew piped up: "A PROPER NOUN!!!" It was too funny.

* A lesson I try to remember daily. I can talk myself blue in the face, but when it comes down to it, the things I am doing are what my children are hearing.

In order to participate in these Foto Friday challenges, you must take a photo (or several) pertaining to the challenge WITHIN the challenge week and post it/them to your blog. When you do, please link back to this blog {you may use the button if you like} so that perhaps we can get lots of participants! (Because, you know, the more the merrier!) Then simply link to your Foto Friday post with Mr. McLinky here so that we all can visit you and compare notes...

For those of you new to this blog (or to Foto Friday's in general), each Friday we get a new photo challenge to work on for the week and we post our photos the next Friday and link back up here. Whatever your skill level, the goal is to get behind your camera and to begin, as you practice, to view subjects in a different light. To extend yourself and your concepts and ideas. To create ART instead of just snapping a picture. And to do it all while having FUN.

This week's Foto Friday challenge is.....

:: GROWING ::

Hmm, I think I might know what I'm doing next week...

That's you're library? Gorgeous. Actually, ours ain't to shabby either, but that fire place.Wow.
No way to *sneak* a picture of the elderly man? Hiding behind a shelf and zooming or telephoto, or is it one of those things where it would be best right up close?
(My I'm chatty today)

The one of you and the Boy is to sweet! Love it!

I like the library picture as well as the book on the mirror. I thought about doing something like that, but I didn't have a mirror that I could use.

By the way....good luck on your taxes :)

I'm seriously jealous of your library! I love the picture with the book on the mirror. Your pictures are, as always, fabulous!

Your library looks so cozy. Our new library is very high tech and doesn't have that cozy feel. Plus, because they are allowing for room to grown, the shelves look rather bare.

The base library, well, it's not cozy, but they have great programs for the kids. That's where I took the photos for this week's challenge.

I love the look of your local library! I wish ours looked like that. (Although ours is just FULL of natural light, and that is wonderful!)

Taxes. For the past 5 years I've done our own using Turbo Tax. It is so EASY! Really, and guess what? We get more money back than when I payed someone to do them. Almost twice as much. No kidding! This year, you can federal e- file for free when you buy it. AND, keep your receipt, because the cost of doing your taxes is deductible! ( I didn't even have to read any books. Turbo tax asks you all sorts of questions, and you can be done in less than two hours.

I love that library picture. The angle is great and the B&W is just right. I like the book on a mirror picture. Your photos are always so BRIGHT they literally cheer me up just looking at them. In fact, I think I will just scroll through your blog and gaze upon all the brightness now. . . Thank you!
PS good luck with your taxes (shudder) i'll bet that book was a real page turner ;o)

I have to ditto every one else. That library of yours is AH-MAZ-ING! WOW! And the photo you captured of Panda amidst it all is fantastic! And I love the one of you helping him write. That is just sweet. And you could take a picture of the man, (that way he is natural) and then ask him if you can take a picture and if he says no, delete the first, and if he says yes, you got an original without him trying to pose or anything. And then you can post it. :D You could always say you are taking pictures for a photography challenge and would love to snap a picture of him reading his book. :D Hope you get the courage up one day to ask! :D

We do Turbo Tax after years of doing our own taxes. I think they purposely make it difficult to do your own taxes. Just my opinion, but for what little money you pay and for what you will get back, it's worth it to have TT do it for you!

Let me know if you get this!! :D YOU MUST look up tawashi on Ravelry!!! They are THE BEST for washing dishes - ESPECIALLY cast iron. I no longer use ANYTHING ELSE! They are all the rave in Japan because of the water they are supposed to help you save. All I know is once you use one, you will never go back!! :D Some patterns you have to pay for, but some (the ones I use) are FREE!!! And everyone I have made one for has told me that they didn't think it would work or do anything special, but then they USED it and they LOVE it!!! :D :D :D

EE is 8 yr old. I am amazed at how well she crochets!! I wish I had better looking pictures to share this week, but I did not want to miss out on ANOTHER week of FF!!! :D :D :D Thank you for FF and ALL you do! I love reading your blog and being inspired!!! :D
