What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Fakeout

Thursday night we went to bed around 10:30pm.

I woke up at 1:30 in the morning to contractions. CONTRACTIONS! The very day after realizing I had nothing prepared for Smoochs' arrival. fun.

For an hour and a half I tried (in vain) to snuggle into Matt and fall asleep despite them (and Smoochs' adament responses to them), but they kept coming 5-7 minutes apart and I kept staying awake to feel them. I decided I had better start ACTUALLY timing them so I got out of bed at 3:00 and went downstairs to find Matt's watch. I never did end up finding it.

Instead, in the wee hours of the morning and stark naked, I started washing dishes, doing laundry, dusting, cleaning toilets and sinks and just general (quiet) clean-up to pass the time until the contractions got painful enough to get me serious.

They didn't. Around 6:00 in the morning, they just stopped.

For FIVE hours I was having contractions 5-7 minutes apart.
I lost an ENTIRE nights' sleep.

AND FOR NOTHING.

The good news is: the sink is shiny. The house is tidy. Laundry is more hills and valleys than cliffs and mountains, and yesterday I went and bought some newborn diapers!

Today I just need to find some clothes in the attic.

Hey-I might just be prepared for this baby after all!

I had the exact same thing at 37 weeks with my last baby. But we went into the hospital! Ended up I was probably just a bit dehydrated which started contractions. So drink lots of water!

I had the strangest feeling this might be going on!

How disappointing! And I'm sorry. but cleaning your house in your birthday suit, that's HILARIOUS. And something you can only get away with when you're 37 weeks pregnant.

This happened to me with my last baby. But I did sleep through most of it. I went into labor the next night and had my baby in the morning. :)

Wow..I'm sure it probably won't be too long now for sure :) I had that happen to me and they made me walk at the hospital. At least you got a few things that you wanted to get done, done :)
Love the picture of the clouds...Pretty and pink like little cotton balls!
Keeping you in my prayers...

Awww -- thanks for the update. I've been on pins and needles waiting to hear. I guess Smooch plans on keeping us all in suspense.

Not trying to put a damper on things, but that's happening to me with all my babies for weeks on end! I remember thinking, at least on the last few - I know this is NOTHING (except a sleep robber)! I'm missing out on valuable sleep for nothing!! Then on my last baby my doctor reminded me - it's NOT for nothing. It's helping to move the baby lower. (Yeah, for two weeks in a row?!) But I did have three of mine before their due date, so maybe it really was doing something.

As for cleaning while stark naked - WOW - you ARE liberated!
