Memememe
Quite a few unanswered questions have piled up here at Renaissance and I am beginning to feel mighty ashamed about it. So sorry for those of you askers.
I just found out that Matt is going to be away (again) all next week (I don't want to talk about it...) so I figure a question/answer post might be just the ticket for a day of diversion....
So-if anyone has been dying to ask me what my favorite dinner dish is or how much I weigh (um-don't you DARE) or anything at all (except that) and actually WANT an answer, do so before Tuesday of next week and you will get your ANSWER! (Except about the weight thing.)
And if no one has any questions, make some up, because I will be needing all the diversions I can get. ;-) winky wink
(In all truth~ I don't know how I am going to make it through next week....uuuuuugggggggggghhhhhhhhh)
Question/Answer post by Wednesday. ;-)
No questions, but thats a cute picture of you :0>
ReplyDeleteBummer about Matt....
I don't have a question, but I do have an idea how you can keep busy when Matt is gone. Go on over to Life in Grace and check out Edie's great 12 Days of Handmade Christmas. It's such fun. I've already made two crayon rolls (perfect for your littles) and I have plans for some of the other projects using up my scraps! It's a win/win--homemade Christmas gifts and using up scraps!

Ok I will try one:) Being a blogger beginner I am still learning how to well, blog. So I have a couple questions, and maybe later I will think of some more. First, How did you learn to write so well? Second, how do you take such nice pictures? Third, how did you get your blogger buzz going? :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I do have a question: What do you wei- (chuckle, laugh, snort, laugh), no my question is really are ya makin' anything for Christmas?
ReplyDeleteIf you could do anything and get paid for it (that whole do what you love...love what you do) what would it be?
ReplyDeleteIf money were no object how many kiddos would you have? :)
What is 3 of your pet peeves?
(seems I have many many so 3 doesn't seem too hard to come up with.
Name something quirky about yourself....(I for one HAVE to have little bubbles blow out of the dish washing soap when I'm putting it into the sink...seriously I will shake the bottle up and keep trying till I do) LOL - I know..."what a weirdo!"
I too hate when my hubby is off to work far away....
good luck with all the questions :)

Yay! An invite to ask questions... I sometimes feel guilty about asking you stuff since I know your hands are full with the wonderful life around you.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I'm a newbie at this homeschooling thing... my oldest is 5. I would love to know if/what curriculum you use and why you decided on it. It seems you offer a wide range of projects, subjects, and culture to your children. I would love to know more... how you order your day... anything...!!
Second, if time allows, what does family worship look like in your house? Having three young children, I often wonder if I could make this area better in our home.
Sorry your husband is going to be away and thank you for passing the time by helping all of us out.

I'd love to know how you manage to get so much done with four little ones to look after! I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteI'd also love to know if you sew/craft when your children are resting or are you able to do any of it when they are up?
My mum tells me she always used to knit and sew with me nearby right from when I was a baby. She says that is why my sister and I are so keen on crafts ourselves because we would always see her doing it. Sounds reasonable, but I can't seem to manage it when my littles are up!
Best wishes from the UK,
Paula
Hi Rebecca, I wanted to ask how you manage to integrate Adele into homeschooling? or how she amuses herself while you teach?
ReplyDeleteOur twin boys are about the same age, and we originally had a combined playroom/schoolroom, which we had to change, when they started eating the schoolwork! We also ran out of higher storage space in that room.
We currently school in the dining-living area, while the boys either play together or watch Christian or educational videos in the playroom. This has been our coping solution, but I feel I'm selling myself short, as I never desired to segregrate our children and they are watching WAY more videos than their sisters ever did, just so I can be available to teach- it saddens me. Our yard is not fenced or child-safe, so sending them out to play is not an option. I'm starting to do small amounts of high chair time with them, giving them scribble paper and crayons and wooden puzzles during read aloud time, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Hmm... I, too, would like to know more about your homeschool. Curriculum choices and methods would be great. Also... what is your favorite book of the Bible? Devotional? Hero of the faith? What is your favorite potluck dish? Favorite treat or dessert? Favorite drink? Favorite hymn? Favorite novel? Favorite movie? Favorite children's book? Where would you most like to take your kids on vacation if money were no object?
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry Matt is going to be gone... again. Hmm questions. What Thanksgiving traditions do you have? What recommendations would you give to someone who hasn't cooked a Thanksgiving meal in many years? (and it can't contain any poultry...) Favorite dessert? If you could travel...where? why?
ReplyDeletefavorite non-fiction book? autobiography? memiors? would you be willing to share your peanut butter caramel popcorn recipe? who is your hero? favorite colour (to wear, decorate, and in general?) season? flower? childhood memory?
I would like to know how you organize your children's clothing? I have 4 girls in a small tiny teeny home and the clothes and toys just take over. I wish they would have come bing bang boom all in a row so we could just use different dressers! Also, what does your food budget look like? That's two questions, whew, such restraint!! I could fill a page and a half with things I would like to ask!!
ReplyDeleteTorie
i adore your blog..always have...been reading since you had just panda and his big sister..
ReplyDeletewe were due at the same time this go round..i had my little boy on sept 8th...i adored your posts last xmas...the homemade xmas at proverb 31 series...so what do you plan on making this christmas???
Have you ever felted anything? Who taught you how to crochet? What intimidates you so much about knitting? Have you crocheted anything on a large scale (like adult size)?
ReplyDelete:0)
I've often wondered how you would describe what your "Christian Doctrine" is, I mean you mentioned a while back that your children listened to the Westminster Shorter Catechism music CD. Are you Reformed? (I know you're not Lutheran cause you told me so).
ReplyDeleteI'm just asking because I like your take on life and how you describe your faith in various ways. I've just wondered what church you attend.
BTW, sorry to hear about Matt going away :(. John has to go out of town next week too, but only for two days. Phew.
I'm interested to know more about whether your faith would fall into any particular label/category-?
ReplyDeleteDo you especially enjoy any certain Christian authors? (besides C.S.Lewis, of course)
And as one who is in awe, as are many others, of how much you accomplish in one day, I'd love to know how much sleep you generally get-? And up early to tend to animals solo each day? At dawn?
oky doky -- one i've been wanting to ask for ages. how on earth do you take such great photos of yourself? i realise you don't take them all -- but remember that wedding ring quilt photo? How on earth did you manage to lie down and take a straight shot of your feet? And does Mattie take the portrait shots (such as the one above and the 'about me' photo) or do you somehow do it? and, if so, do you have a secret life as a contortionist?
ReplyDeleteIf you could do something very out of character and out of the ordinary, WHAT would you do?? :)
ReplyDeleteHow much wood coulda wood chuck chuck...hehehe....
ReplyDeleteIf you could change anything in the past...what would it be? I try not to dwell on shoulda coulda woulda's...but I'm joining the group to fill your time ...hope it goes quickly :-)
See you tonight! Hooray!
Your posts always inspire me when your hubby is away. Mostly to clean, but it is still so good to be productive. I think this time, you should do some stuff just for yourself (if that is possible with wee ones). You deserve at nap!
ReplyDeleteWow, there are so many comments already that I hesitate to add another. If you get really bored and need a few more questions here are mine:
ReplyDelete1. I think you touched on this in your disciplining series but could you offer more specifics on attending church with your little ones and your expectations for their behavior there?
2. You seem to have a relatively laid back approach to pregnancy. Any advice for getting through? (shhh...we're trying)
3. Details on your camera! I want to upgrade for Christmas this year but have no idea where to start!
HI Rebecca
ReplyDeleteWow! You might have to send your hubby away another week just to answer all these questions!! I am also very curious to know your background, as in church. What church do you go to? What denomination?
I also had a question for you back when you first posted pictures of the costumes you were making for Halloween. I wrote it in the comment section, number 8 I think. Would love to hear your .02 on that.
All the best next week! It looks like I won't be productive as I will be sitting behind the computer, reading all your answers! Looking forward to it!!
Michelle from Canada
How much do you weigh? >:}
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I just read Bonnie's question...haha. And here I thought I was being cute...*gack* Bonnie takes all the good material!! AHAHAHAHAH! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI'm probably being too nosey - I'd love to know how/when you became a Christian (I grew up in the Reformed Church but aren't a Christian.......I quite envy people with faith. Guess I must know that something is missing??
Anyway, if that's too nosey, no problem.
Also, what is your favourite meal?
Favourite author? Favourite way to relax?
Good luck with answering all of the questions!

Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteIn your homeschooling (or just in your lives in general), is there emphasis on the children memorizing scripture?
And how do you handle television/movies, etc., with your family? Is there a place for that in your day?
And perhaps this is way too nosy, but you've recently mentioned your husband's goal and efforts to achieve it -- I'm so curious about that --
Thanks for being open to taking questions -- have quietly admired you for a long time now.
-Carey
You recently mentioned that you are borrowing the farm and could never own it. I'm curious as to why - is it just not for sale and never will be, is it too expensive, is it not in the area where you would like to live, or is there another reason. I know that lots of the farmland near I83 between the Pennsylvania state line and York has been sold for developments but wasn't sure about "your" farm.
ReplyDeleteThanks and good luck this week.
Curious as to whether your parents and/or in-laws live nearby & how often you and your children see them?
ReplyDeleteHello Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever commented here. Yikes! But I have been reading your blog ever since I found it off of Simply Vintagegirl, probably a year ago. =)
Needless to say, I LOVE it! Everything about it. And your pictures....they're gorgeous! The lighting is always so perfect. Beautiful, beautiful job!
I know you have so many questions to answer, so I understand if you don't have time to answer this one, but I thought I'd ask anyway. =)
So...I was reading your love story (soooo CUTE, by the way, I love it!), and I was disappointed at where it ended. I want to know more details! =) Like all the way up until the wedding. =)
Don't feel like you have to answer, it's just a suggestion if you have a lot of time on your hands. =) Thanks!
Sorry for such a long comment. =) Blessings!
In Christ,
~Annie~
P.S. I just thought of another question. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you find time to blog? You're a mother of four, for pete's sake. I cannot believe how much you accomplish! =)
i got one. When is Foto Friday coming back? I miss it. I heart faces is just too intimidating.
ReplyDeleteI have a question...Do you ever get really bummed..you know, just looking at your husband and saying " he just doesn't get it"! He doesn't know the strain I am under with a new baby nursing and caring for a two year old and two others, and I am drained! And I am certainly not in the mood to get on my blog and let everyone know it! Does that ever happen to you?
