This is the first year I have ever planted peas. They are planted early, as soon as the ground can be worked, and I always FORGOT until it was too late. But not THIS year.
We've been eating snap peas and snow peas in their pods often at dinner, but the little marvel garden peas get plucked and eaten right in the garden and never even make it to the house.
Yesterday, Andrew declared he was camping out in the garden and looked more than a bit sheepish when I asked him if peas had been his main provision.
Have you ever tasted raw, sweet peas? Oh my.
Every single time I bring a colander-full from the garden, I find myself singing this song, a favorite:
I recently had my FIRST taste (yes, I'm a recovering city-slicker ;) of sweet peas out of a garden. Oh. my. goodness. YUM! :) Love that pea picture...PERFECT!! :)
Oh my! The Homestead Blessings ladies sing and play instruments too! Is there anything they can't do?? :) (I only have 1 of their DVDs, so I don't really know anything about them, but they sure look like a sweet family.)
My absolute favorite thing to snack on straight out of the garden, and also the only reason I plant them.
ReplyDeleteA favorite song of mine too, and so true!
I also love that song. I recently found their blog and its as cute as they are:)

ReplyDeleteThey look deliciously fresh :) Nothing better than fresh from the garden vegetables!!!
ReplyDeleteGroan. Our won't be ready for another 3 weeks. Taunter.
ReplyDeleteThis song is a favorite of our family as well! :) I find myself, too, singing it when bringing in a harvest of green beans to can! ;)
