Lots of preparations going on here. There isn't a room in this house that doesn't have some sort of festive paraphanalia strewn within. Tons of projects, not quite done littering table tops and baskets. Wrapping paper. Ribbon. Beads. Yarn. Pictures. Cinnamon.
And lots of butter.
Preparations are a GOOD thing. Anticipation is a GOOD thing. Expectations are a GOOD thing.
All of it, every last bit, points us to the Giver.
The yarn scraps sticking to my socks as I walk from room to room.
The paper confetti littering the floor.
The beads that Judah keeps finding and trying to eat.
The glittered ground.
The yelps that occasionally accompany hot glue projects.
The tape that, in one instant, is pulled out and tangled.
The many, many chocolate morsels, awaiting their resurrection.
It's all good. It all points to Him and His abundant Grace.
God, the greatest Giver~ He gives us the beauty in wreaths, the smell of fresh rosemary and pine and the deliciousness of pumpkin. He gives us talents, the creativity to wrap presents just so, the desire to please others, the thoughts of generosity, the supplies and TIME needed to make Love-gifts and beautiful homes.
When we seek out these gifts and notice them, we find gratitude in His grace. When we show creativity and generosity this season, we become a reflection of Himself.
Some say decorations and presents, trees and gingerbread take away the TRUE meaning of Christmas. I daresay, every last bit of the festiveness we can muster, only makes the brightness of Christmas shine brighter.
As we hustle and bustle, prepare and plan, excitedly create and anticipate these last few days leading up to Christmas, God is very, very pleased.
We have reason to celebrate. The GREATEST REASON IN THE WORLD.
God gave us His only son. God gave us HIMSELF in His son!!!!
Now, go wrap some presents!
Preach it, Sista!!!!! I love all the preparation and activity this time of year. I do need to remember to stop for a bit each day and reflect on the Lord but I would never want to do without all the things that make this such a special time of year!
