30 Loves

by: an admiring contributor

-I love the way you look in the morning.  You think you look horrendous, but I always want to kiss you.  You then make me wait till you brush your teeth.  For me, that is torture.

-I love the way you respond to adversity.  Instead of hiding, you stand up even straighter.

-I love the way you pronounce "L".

-I love how you to capture moments with your camera.

-I love how you ALWAYS involve the children in what you're doing.

-I love the way you smile when you recall something fun we did together.

-I love how you are so reckless.  You never do anything by half measures.

-I love looking at you when you’re driving.  You have that half smile on your face and a sparkle in your eyes.

-I love that we agree on 99.9% of things.  (It would be harder if we didn’t agree that I NEED a bigger tractor.)

-I love the style of clothes you wear and how you look in them, especially the ‘eels.

-I love how you love girlie things.  You are 100% girl.  Not to stereotype, but you love sewing, crocheting, cooking, scrapbooking, needlepoint, doilies, lace, calligraphy, spinning wool, dresses, perfume, flowers, watercolors, tiffany lamps, and decorative glass among other things.  Me, do I like those things?  Not so much.

-I love when we walk in the woods that you ask questions about things you see that I’ve never seen before or thought of in that way.

-I love that you have no idea what Dispensationalism is.

-I love that you Love God more than me.

-I love that you can smell a skunk a mile away.  And that you have the, um, fortitude to tell me as such.

-I love that you seem to have come prepackaged on how to raise a family.  You have planted seeds that will take root in our children’s children.  We’ll be long dead and our relatives will still be talking about that tall grandmother.

-I love how you’re interested in things that have real value.  People, relationships, honesty, and respect.

-I love how you’ve changed me.  I love the way you’ve changed me.  And I love that you continue to change me.

-I love that you don’t care what other people think about you.  If something is right, it is universally right.

-I love how you are the embodiment of true motherhood.  Tough when you need to be tough and soft when called for.  And you refuse to do my job as a father.

-I love how you write letters to Opa.  Your devotion to him is not without its reward.  But the beauty in that is you write him letters not even considering your reward.

-I love when we visit acquaintances and how they try to size you up and place you in box.  It’s so fun to watch their reaction as you answer questions in a way they didn’t anticipate.  You flower in a room of accusers.

-I love how you loving singing the psalms.

-I loved the way you glowed at our wedding.  You still have that when we kiss.

-I love the way I see your virtues in our children.

-I love how you are so good at wrapping presents.  Meaning, I love how you’re good at the things I hate to do.

-I love how you see the good in people and have the grace to look over their faults.

-I love your lips.  Especially that little curvy part right above your top lip.

-I love your eyebrows, and yes both of them.

-I love that you don’t love another but me.

For Matt to call to mind and pen these thirty after your not-so-subtle #26 in the previous post is further evidence that your guy loves you, indeed -

  14. That is lovely.

"And you refuse to do my job as a father." That is a statement that goes far deeper than most people realize. Selah...

(Ha! I've gotten the EXACT same comment about my upper lip from my husband. And I always hated my lips in my teens. Goes to show I don't know what beauty is. :P )
