I seriously have a hard time relating to people who say they don't know what to do with their kids in the summertime... I rarely see mine.
Every minute of their day is filled with their own, homemade fun. I will never have to actively seek to keep them busy, that's for sure.

Love Andrew's face in those photos. He's definitely having fun! My children were the same way. They were always making up games and having fun that didn't involve being parked in front of the television. They still find all sorts of things to occupy their time as teens & young adults.
I love this!! We dont have a TV so my hope is that my kiddos will be the same! I have been doing a lot of creative play with my daughter (20 months)

They are having so much fun! I love it.
I LOVE seeing kids play outside. We were out from the time our feet hit the floor until time to come in when it was starting to get dark. We caught crawdads, minnows and tadpoles in the crick (creek). We slid down the sides of that same crick in the winter on cardboard "sleds". We picked wildflowers and dandelion greens...we knew how to live!

Janet~ something about your comment made me wonder why as an adult I don't occasionally do the things I enjoyed as a child-like catch minnows. I bet that would be as fun today as ever it was as a child. Thanks for that.

They have creative minds like their mama. What fun it looks like they are having!
After my first grandson was born, my daughter looked over the baby toys...and I'll never forget my teen turning to me and saying sincerely "Thank You Mama. Thank you for allowing me to use my imagination. What on earth are these children going to learn to do when the toys do it all for them?!"
I'm all for old fashioned upbringing. Turn them loose in the outdoors, give them pencil crayons and paper and books. Let them learn to stimulate and calm their minds themselves. They will be productive and smart and industrious when they grow up.
