Chestertonianisms

"The world will never starve for want of wonders; but only for want of wonder."

~~~~~~
"Because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. They always say, "Do it again"; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. It is possible that God says every morning, "Do it again" to the sun; and every evening, "Do it again" to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we."
~~~~~~~~~~~

 "We should always endeavor to wonder at the permanent thing, not at the mere exception. We should be startled by the sun, and not by the eclipse. We should wonder less at the earthquake, and wonder more at the earth."

  2. I just hung up some prisms a week ago and my girls have been enjoying chasing the rainbows as they dance on our walls :-)

  3. I love Chesterton quotes and I forgot about this one, so thank you! I remember my daughter Mary (comment above) tried to catch the "rainbow" on our living room floor in a by putting a cup on top of it.

  4. “The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people.”

  5. I just read that one of the Catholic bishops in England is considering starting the process to have Chesterton declared a Saint. Great move, in my opinion.
