What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Because I love it...

And I can't help but cry and smile at the same time when I watch it.  Over and over again.

Rebecca,

I sobbed! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

And do you know what I found today? Your letter... when we still lived in Alaska. I was cleaning out a drawer and there it was. Its not the first time I've found it and reread it... nor will it be the last time. it brings me encouragement and brings a smile to my face... thank you!!

Just this very afternoon, my pregnant sister, mother and I were talking about women aborting babies that they were told had Down Syndrome. Seeing this on your blog only hours later was amazing. What is that saying about "coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous"?

I work with developmentally disabled adults and know the complete joy they bring to our lives. Thanks for posting this.

Sweet. Very good video. I always skip the down syndrome tests, like right now expecting baby no 3...as long as nobody knows, nobody can tell me to abort. (There is pressure from everybody here if a test shows abnormalities. Many even abort for cleft lip or palate. It is sad.)

To previous commenter Theresa - - I know what you meant with your comment "...complete joy they bring to our lives," but please reconsider that quip - -

The value is in LIFE -- every life -- disabled or not --- period. Not in what "they" bring to our lives.

TO previous commenter Theresa~ don't change a thing. It was a beautiful sentiment written perfectly.

To Anonymous~ PC talk is strongly discouraged here at this blog because PC talk is a modern era tactic of creating discord where there never was any.

Down Syndrome people(and indeed, other people with disabilities) ARE different and should be considered so. They are different and unique and give us different and unique lessons in love and joy, as is evidenced by the fact that I can't watch that video without grinning from ear to ear. To steal that specialness that THEY exude for fear of saying THEY exude anything different than anyone else is a tragic mistake.

And to create discord where there was none is also tragic.

Wow anonymous, talk about looking for trouble where none existed. I have worked for the past 19 years with individuals with a variety of developmental disabilities. THEY... each and every one of them make the population as a whole richer. The value is indeed in life and trying to twist peoples words is exactly why there is such indifference in this world.

Lydia, I was 41 when my one and only child was born. I did have the full testing with amniocentesis because I had a co-worker describe the utter shock she and her husband experienced in the delivery room when their daughter was born and it was very evident that she had Down's. I had no intention of aborting, but I wanted to avoid that shock. She had no issues so it was a non-factor.

BTW, the co-worker said she knew it would be fine the moment she held her daughter. Her husband was terrified by the responsibility and perceived difficulty but once he held her, that all melted away. Yes, the parents I know with Downs kids have encountered situations that parents of 'normal' kids don't, but that is pretty much life, right?
