What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

This Week's Goals

Fence is done and animals are happy!

My Andrew has daily been giving reports of Penny's process of "bagging up" and has been begging for me to take pictures of her teats.  (Boys.)

He is very impressed with them.

It seems, Penny is too!

I am going to be honest here...I am having a hard time getting going today! (Why yes, it IS almost 3:00!) I haven't felt much like doing ANYTHING at all (and have gotten about that much accomplished too!).  I guess it is natural, coming off the heels of such a wonderful week of Matt being close and doing the not-so-ordinary things that vacation days allow for.  Slow starts can be okay, right?

But this is spring!  And there is work to be done, whether I feel much like doing it or not!

I thought I would bring out the big guns by writing out the list of things I hope to get done this week for all the world to see.  (Or at least, all you blog readers.)

Yeah-because the embarrassment of not getting it done is a pretty good impetus to get started.

And today I need a really good impetus.

Here are my hopefuls for the week:

~ weed/mulch strawberries (a good start- but didn't finish)

~ rototill the cutting garden/pumpkin patch and spread flower seeds (too wet)
~ mend sheets and last of the mending pile
~ start sewing dress for myself
~ plant onions, potatoes, lettuce, spinach, kale and swiss chard
~ begin weeding walkways in garden
~ start pricing milking equipment and put in the order.  Penny is due to calve in just a few more weeks!
~ drop off the many bags of donation stuff I have in the back of the van  (twice)
~ work in the Granary for at least 2-3 hours this week, organizing and cleaning out.  Take some BEFORE pics!  (All said and done, I worked probably more like 5-6 hours in it and made tremendous progress!)
~ laundry (hung outside)
~ mulch around cherry trees and filberts  (and apples too, thanks to Mattie and his big blue tractor)
~ write three letters- especially one to Opa
~ begin getting end-of-school year stuff in order
~ clean OFFICE and SCHOOL ROOM (it doesn't look it now that it is the END of the week though.  Funny how that happens.)
~ take yard sale books to Granary
~ get all the winter outer clothes/accessories out of the basement (they get moldy down there in spring/summer) and put in storage
~ find/wash more canning jars for wedding
~ finish baby gift (would have been done except I messed up and had to undo the whole thing...)
~ sort out the winter clothes from drawers in boys room and put in storage bins

At the rate I am going, I'll be lucky to strike ONE thing off the list!

What are you up to this week?

Edited to Add:  Well, lookie here!  That is what accountability does for a body!  This week I got through ALMOST everything on my very-ambitious list and all because I had blogged it!

Today has been such a lovely productive day which is not my norm for Mondays. I'm finding the warmer temps., sunshine and beautiful sights and smells are motivating me a lot more. Oh yeah, and staying off the computer! ;-)

Have a wonderful day, Rebecca and a day of rest once in a while is fine. I always, always burst out laughing at your Andrew and Penny posts. Love boys!

Today is cloudy and icky so in the kitchen I am cooking for the next two weeks so that when it is nice I can be outside.

When you look at milking equipment look at the EZ milker. Not your traditional milking system but we love it so much. We have milked with a 70's style bucket milker and a new claw style milker but the EZ takes the cake. Never will I haul around heavy stainless steel buckets again. We milk share with our calf so we only have to milk once a day.

You will love having milk out your backdoor. We milk, strain, and pop it in the fridge. Best milk ever!

I will be doing way more shifts at work than usual. I am training to work in another group home. I know some of the staff there. Sadly, I have not heard one single good thing about the home from staff who worked there in the past. Whenever I tell co-workers that I am training there, the standard response is "well..good luck with that!" Sadder still is the fact that the staff that work there all profess to follow Christ. It is an evangelical organization. Reminds me of the Mark Twain quote that he put a cat and a dog in a cage to see if they could get along. They did, so he put a bird, a pig, and a goat in. After a few adjustments, they too got along fine. Then he put in a Baptist, a Presbyterian and a Catholic, and soon there was not a living thing left. Lol!!

That's cute about Andrew. What is it with those boys anyway? It's funny- in comparison- I nursed my five boys all for a year to a year and a half and had to beg, borrow and steal to get them to wean. And, they all refused a bottle at any offering. My five girls were like, "Nursing? Okay. Whatever." lol.

Catching up in the garden....taming the paper bomb that looks like it landed in the middle of the office. Some much needed house work. That's the plan.
Whether any of it gets done remains to be seen. Tuesday already and I've only done a little bit in the garden! Oops.

I will be catching up with custom orders, blogging from the *real me*, not the blogger who has been blogging lately by going through the actions but with no heart or soul, and i'll be starting a couple of new hs'ing programs with my oldest daughter! It should be a smashing week! :)

Always love your photos... just beautiful the way you see your world! :)

Hi Rebecca
I hope you got your list ticked off! It certainly is a lovely long list. I love it when you share what you are hoping to achieve. It's always so motivating!
I remember how excited we were when Bessy began to bag up and all the planning for milking. We use a machine and while not as ' romantic' as hand milking, it is certainly a lot quicker! I did hand milk her for many months though before Dave decided we needed a machine :). I love milking her and I bet you are just going to love the milking too ( and using the milk as well - making cheese is fun, but it's certainly a learned skill). I love your photos and look forward to your garden ones over the next few months!
Blessings
Renata:)

Dandelion carpets? My favorite!

Jersey who's going to give your family MILK soon?! The best thing ever!!!

So glad Matt was right this time, just this once. ;)

Terri- funny how that works!

Megan- that looks great but cost prohibitive for us. Maybe some day.

Theresa~ that is sad. Hope your week goes well for you!

Courtney- that is exactly how it was here too! My boys were always the snugglers.

Amy- SO CLOSE! You can do it!

Mich- good luck with that!

Carla- you're a glass-half-full kindof girl, aren't you? Love that.

Renata- we will be using a machine (I hope) because I have a wee bit of a dark secret when it comes to cows. I am allergic. So as much as I love them- they give me hives and swell up my face and all sorts of gruesomeness. The less I actually *touch* her the better. (It's a sad fact.)

Abigail- I guess he HAS been right a time or two. I am especially glad he was in this instance. THAT would have been embarrassing!
