Story time is getting pretty crowded around here.

The upstairs of our house gets pretty darn cold during the winter months and, while I have hope that this year may be better than previous ones, I knew I wanted to have a little extra warmth tucked away for Tiddle.
I followed the instructions for the Patchwork SleepSack from the book Handmade Beginnings: 24 Sewing Projects to Welcome Baby
by Anna Marie Horner but scratched the whole "patchwork" part of it. Instead, I found such a perfect fabric already in my stash! I lined it with flannel I was given earlier this year (in the EXACT amount I needed) and used leftover bits of bias tape, velcro and rick rack to complete it. FREE!

Doing:
The biggles brought in the handmade cradle Matt made for our babies from the Granary.
I cried when we put it in there last year and I very nearly cried when we brought it back in.

Awww. I'm tearing up thinking about the cradle too! I remember that post about that! Your sleep sack is SO cute! We love The Raft here too...a favorite of Noah's! :)

Love the sleep,sack. The material is perfect. Seeing the photo of the cradle coming back inside your home made me cry, too. God is good.
Rebecca, I just found your blog about a week ago and have been catching up with your life since then. I really enjoy it! But, girl, you are too hard on yourself sometimes! You are beautiful! Never say otherwise. Your children seem delightful! You work hard all day and I am amazed at what you accomplish! I'm probably about your mom's age and my kids are grown. Reading your blog makes me wish mine were young again. Wish I had half your energy. Looking forward to the new baby. Just curious,have you ever considered homebirth? Don't mean too be intrusive, but it seems like something you would like. Please forgive me if I've been too forward. My intentions were honorable.

Winter is here! Need to find a pattern for the sleep sacks that I loved putting on my kids, but couldn't find when I was shopping for a shower gift.
Sally- funny you should mention it. I had really hoped to try a homebirth (for the first time) this pregnancy (since my last baby was nearly a highway baby-arriving just seven minutes after getting to the hospital!) but it turns out I am unable to do so this time. The only homebirth midwife who could come from closer than 2 hours away will not be certified until December (at best). We missed the opportunity by a HAIR!!! If the Lord ever blesses us again that will be the route we take though. Thank you for your comment and your kind compliments! So glad you stopped by- I hope you do so again!
Karen- they don't make things quite like they used to, do they? IF you are interested, the pattern I used for the sleepsack was from Handmade Beginnings. You could try that. :-)
Ooh, that sleepsack. Perfection. (Still drooling over that fabric, too. I am pitiful.)
