What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

The Month of May : May 1

I fully intend to *try* to post every day in May though, since today is technically May 2nd, I'd say I haven't started off too well. ;-)

I can rarely be found on the computer on the weekends which may make blogging hard so blogging on the weekends may not happen.  Or maybe I will schedule posts?  Or maybe I will double up on days to make sure a post happens FOR every day but not ON every day?  Really, how serious do I want to be about this blogging in May bit?  That has yet to be decided.  However, for this month at least, I can assure you I will be blogging more than the previous practice of once every week or two. Anything is an improvement on that!

I also have quite a few other goals for this month.  Here they all are, out of my head and onto a screen for others to know.  That ups the ante a bit.  See Mattie?  Totally serious this time.  ;-)

~ Kettlebells/Exercise Monday thru Friday and a walk/jog once within the weekend

~ low carb eating all month for me and the Mister

~ NO gas station stops or fast food, not even for drinks  (on shopping days we are uptown for hours and though I pack lunches for the children, we always inevitably wind up parched and heading to a drive-through for tea (me) and waters (children).  And fries have been happening more than I care to admit too.

~ create a meal plan for every day of the month to make supper happen more smoothly and the low-carb eating to actually happen.

~ Are you sensing the fact that I need to  lose some weight?  yeah.  Thought so.

~ Blog daily

~ Photo document the days more creatively.  I've become a quick snapper and lost my artistic eye.

~ Write a letter (or two) on Sundays

Also to-do this month:

~ paint puppet theater
~ paint rocking chair?
~ make baby gift
~ sew some sunbonnets
~ garden work, Oh, the garden work.
~ sort/price books for upcoming homeschool book sale
~ Paint bunkbeds
~ help Matt stain/poly boards for boys' room
~ drop off clothes to sell on consignment
~ finish my stained glass project
~ keep scouting around for cheap canning jar pantry, daybed and rocking chair on Craigslist/yardsale
~ design/plan summer dresses for girls, gather supplies
~ sew a shirt for myself that flatters and is easy to nurse in

There.  That should keep me out of trouble!

Can I just caution you a bit? I've learned it is so important to rebuild core strength before really getting back into working out. I've been doing yoga & plank workouts for several months before jumping back into running, and I feel so much stronger and more flexible. My run yesterday was completely pain free, as opposed to when I just tried to go back to running & intense working out without much preparation. But, good job getting to it! Hope you smash your low carb month! :)

Another caution (from a momma who's almost an empty nester). We can either live life or we can document and blog life, but I believe it's not wise to try to do both at the same time. Enjoy the moments with your family without worrying about taking beautiful pictures for your blog, and then maybe feeling guilty for taking time to post them and write, etc. Raising your children is so much more important. Make happy memories and share your life with the rest of the world when you can without neglecting your husband, children and home. We won't think less of you; we won't die from neglect, but your marriage and family might die (figuratively speaking) if you neglect them.

You are a wonderful woman! So creative and thoughtful. Keep up the good work, in your home, and relieve your stress by not worrying about blogging when you have so many precious children to spend your time with. They are your eternal treasures.

I've heard it said that we can take only three things with us to heaven. First, our character, who we become in this life; second, our knowledge and memories; third, our relationships. May the Lord bless and guide you in all your choices.

Yes I agree with the above. ;) life is fleeting, and children grow up so fast. Each day is a gift. Blessings, christina

That was said "tongue in cheek" you know right? :) Can't wait to see what you come up with...I know sometimes I have to do SOMETHING (for me usually writing or photography or reading) to help feed my mind. I get that. :)

Have you heard of Trim Healthy Mama? its a truly amazing way to eat and enjoy food all while loosing (or maintaining eventually) weight! It was developed by 2 christian sisters who look absolutely amazing for having at least a dozen children between them! They really help you understand how to eat foods that work FOR you, not against you! And the recipes are truly delicious and husband/kid approved. Ive tried to loose baby weight so many times and would quit because it was boring or tedious counting carbs, or id get tired of having to work out all the time to loose any weight. Since starting THM, I've lost all my baby weight and actually enjoyed the whole process!

Bless you in your vocation as a wife and mother!

Love the two newest posts of your little darling. So adorable, and getting so big! Those cheeks are irresistible! Just want to say I made one of those sunbonnets--quick and easy, and fun! Good luck on the May goals. I love reading your goals--makes me think I should set some... well, maybe in June... :)!

Emily- no worries. There will be plenty of 'easing in'. May is actually my 'Easing In' month since I have done basically nothing up until this point!

Rozy- I am completely there with you. I get it. Which is why I am very cautious as I take this on. I am hoping with a daily blog post I will be more inclined to document the moments without feeling the need to write a book every time I sit down to blog. A picture or two ought to do. I am always taking pictures...it is the writing that takes so much time. But yes- I may purposefully fail on this challenge if it proves to be too much.

That said, every now and again I find myself floundering a bit- grumbling at the work to be done and the constant pull of children every moment of every day. At those trying times, it takes resolve to focus on the glory in the moment and not the burden. That is to seek out, find, and purposely focus on the little moments that make my life beautiful and worthwhile.

That is, ultimately, what I hope to accomplish this month. Not to take away from this family but to add to it by living more joyfully in the moments and letting myself take note of the beauty going on around me in the midst of the burden.

Amy- of course you would understand!

Bethany- indeed, I have! A friend gave me a copy of the book and I will be using those principles to guide me a bit this month. I won't follow it to a T (we have a cow so there will be milk drinking and I don't have the finances for almond milk, etc.) but it is a great help in understanding how things work and will hopefully help. I need all the help I can get.

Ulli- glad to know they are quick and easy projects and I bet, super cute! Thanks for your encouragement!

Holy moly, missus. Just writing out that list must have been exhausting. After merely reading it, I'm off to take a nap.

Also, I take umbrage at the phrase "quick snapper." There is nothing shameful about quick snapping.
Or snapshotting.
(Ahem.)
