Stormy

It was shaping up to be our most beautiful garden yet... just lovely!  

And then the storms came.

We have had thunder and lightening storms on an almost nightly basis and great deluges of rain.  As we live on top of a hill, in an open expanse without too many trees, it is quite intimidating to be engulfed in lighting storms on all sides with a house shivering against storm winds.  All of the above storm photos were taken in the deep black of midnight or beyond and yet, the sky is bright with the sheer power of electricity.  One storm fried our router.  Matt replaced it.  Another storm fried the new router.  I replaced it.  And another storm fried our modem!  The phone company replaced it.  

The constant water has made the entire yard a completely saturated sponge- no matter where I step, my foot is covered with half and inch of water that squishes up.  The eastern side of our garden is now an active and thriving frog pond.  All of the above garden photos were taken at the start of the storms...the leaves are still green and there was still hope that the water would recede.  

Who will replace all the languishing, mostly drowned plants that were once so beautiful and thriving, I wonder?  

Once again, incredibly thankful that we are not solely dependent upon garden produce for our food.  

But still very sad for the beautiful garden that could have been!
