Tulips

(Miss Adele' took this picture!)

I don't know why it took this Dutch girl THIS long to plant some tulip bulbs- but my procrastination has stolen so much potential beauty and joy from my life these many years!

There are two types of flower people:  The kind who would never dare to cut flowers- enjoying them only in their natural, living habitat.  And the kind that is perfectly happy to massacre them for the sake of indoor joy.

I am the latter.

It took me growing tulips myself to realize that homegrown tulips are NOTHING compared to store bought ones.  I always kinda thought they were a modest flower but in fact, they are incredibly ostentatious!

If you cut tulips in the morning and bring them in when they are tightly budded, by evening they have stretched out and draped their petals in the most showy, flamboyant way.

"Look at ME!" they cry.

And I do.  I DO!  I can't HELP myself!

Are you a hand-off flower admirer or a vase-filling flower butcher?

Also: an important something to think on today...

  1. I am definitely the butchering type. I love brightening my home with flowers.

  4. From your Dutch friend, who doesn't have tulips (squirrels dig up and destroy all tulip bulbs), who takes flowers and foliage from garden to enhance shop bought bunches; you've got a wonderful garden, green thumb and eye for beauty.
Thanks for sharing flowers with a thought for the day ;)
