Demounted
For all those that have put my on a very high pedestal (clear throat: ELIZABETH! hehehe) I am here to brutally expose myself as the procrastinating, not-all-together lady that I really am. And there is no better time than the present, since I took part in an anti-procrastination challenge!
As you can see- instead of dirty clothes HAMPERS, we have a dirty clothes CLOSET which, for the past few weeks, has been SO cushy and soft it was near impossible to get hurt in there. Of course, it was also nearly impossible to get to the clean clothes....but we won't go there.
Today I have worked tirelessly to lesson the great fabric mountain. I am not there yet, but I am well on my way.
So-you see, yes. I DO have fun with my children and I DO take lots of pictures making it appear that all is well with the Newman house, but the Closet of No Return is never pictured for a reason.
Here IS a soapbox I am willing to get up on: Please be careful not to set bloggers up on a pedestal. It is far too easy to do and I see it ALL the time...that said to myself as well.
After all, it is VERY easy to sugar coat things to appear the all-wonderful person that you want to be. But we all have shortcomings and we all have weaknesses. Remember: the blog world is only one-sided and there are two sides to every story. It is the job of the Blogger to represent themselves as honestly and humbly as they can (and NOT take advantage of the obvious ability to appear better than one really is...) and it is the job of the READER to remember that no one likes their shortcomings advertised and so you only get the one side of the picture.
Now-to step down, must get back to that laundry. AND the vacuuming. AND the bathroom cleaning...

What a refreshing post! Thanks for the honesty.I'll take your advice to heart.
I just wrote a humungo post and LOST it....drat. What I said was I saw that picture and smiled gleefully and thought to myself hehehehe. My bathroom looks like that on a regular basis. When company comes the kids like to throw it in the tub...BUT my pile is dwindling as well...I have a laundry tip that I always LOVE to give...because it makes life so much easier...here it is...when you are folding girls or boys t-shirts...fold them as you would normally and then fold them in half one more time and "file" them in the drawer like index cards...it is so nice because you can see every shirt, and the kids will actually wear every one of them. It is also good for the big kiddos so they can choose their own shirt without making the drawer messy...HOORAY for small pleasures!!
Yes! You are human... I knew it all along! Thank you for your refreshing honesty...but as my Momma always tells me "the laundry will always be there, but your kids will not..." and so I applaud you for doing the things you love with you children & letting the laundry get done..when it gets done! Happy Washing! Victoria =)
"SO cushy and soft it was near impossible to get hurt in there"
LOL, I have a laundry closet too. Except mine has a basket somewhere under all those clothes! This is my challenge too.
Rean Day
To that I say, AMEN! : )
You have to be the cutest thing!!!! :-) Showing your *dirty clothes hamper*! Oh you are precious. :-))))
And along with precious, you write so much wisdom. Yes, we are all a composite of many aspects. Sure, we can show a tiny corner of our homes and it be quite purrrrrrrfect. But certainly, we all have very impurrrrrrfect corners and places and rooms and closets and cellars and.... And how lovely of you, to show one of yours.
Mmmmm...... Am I brave enough to do the same???? I certainly have many to choose from! {Thinking of an upstairs bedroom, not long ago cleaned out, which has become the _new_ dumping ground of the house. Eeeeeeek!} I'll ponder on this. :-) Maybe! Just maybe, if I showed it, in all it's messy glory, I'd really be inspired to _work on it_!
And then, of course, I have many more!

Dear Rebecca,
Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. I love your honesty! It is so refreshing, and has inspired me too to be as honest as possible in my blog and my life as well. Your family is beautiful! I love the pictures of your children that you posted below. How old are they?
Remain blessed,
Alexis
Haha, such was the state of my house ALL the time, until we hired a maid/house keeper (and a nanny too for time after Kaden was born...not that I'm saying I had trouble making the transition from 3 to 4 children or anything! ;) And there are still days when my house looks like a disaster, after a very small, but very mobile tornado by the name of Kaden (who isn't even walking yet!) has made his way through a room!
Seeing this picture makes me feel just a little bit better...you always seem like you have things so together on your blog and are doing the most amazing projects, and without the hired help I have (and even sometimes with) I'd be drowning in a pile of laundry, dishes, toys, and dust!
Love ya,
Catherine
Off Topic but.... You commented in my Blog, that you've recently discovered The Victorian Trading Co. Oh yes!!! Oh yes!!! It is just full of wonderful things. In fact, when the new mail catalogue comes, my 14 year old Granddaughter and I *vie* for first look at it, when she is here, after school. :-) Yes, even a very modern Miss... still loves to look at this catalogue.
And I'm not sure if you were referring to the web site, or the snail mail catalogue. But, just in case... here is the Web Site. And you can have the catalogue sent to you, from this.

Amen to demounting!
Thankfully, no one thinks that I'm Martha Stewart (with good reason), so I have no need to air my dirty laundry.
I like to see yours, though! :)
You are so lucky to have a closet to hide your laundry in, mine is in the hall way and it tends to grow legs and walk all over the place. lol.
