What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Christmas Eve 2009

Christmas Eve is always spent with my side of the family in their home.

It's always a mighty full house and the children outnumber the adults.

Here are a *very* few shots from there. I get frustrated with low-light situations and would rather not take any photos at all then to waste time taking bad shots. Call me lazy. Call me dumb for not knowing how to clear the flash hurdle. Call me whatever.

But it would be a SIN to not take a picture of this funny moment:

Those headbands from way back when were worn in a different way than I had anticipated. Much more stylishly I might add!

Mom really wanted a family picture this year. This is my brother Benjamin's first year back home in many a year, so it was extra special to have him for Christmas.

Can I remind you how much I HATE taking indoor shots when the sun goes down at, oh, 2 o'clock?? H.A.T.E. it. They are always ALWAYS grainy.

But here they are Mom, full of grain and all. Hope you like!

I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I made a black and white version too.

And because we are who we are, a silly version was absolutely necessary.

I love the last shot best. Bob says they are grainy inside when the sun is gone because you don't use a flash. Try it, you may like it better. Hope you had a blessed Christmas. We are going to open presents on Wednesday evening with 4 of our grandchildren, including our newest!!!

Great pictures! I like the last one best as well. We JUST got home from 5 days worth of Christmas. I am tired. And we have no clean clothes. Tooda-loo!

Don't you know Mrs. Bibby? Flash is my enemy. It washes faces out and adds deep shadows to the background (or blackens the background all together) and I am obsessive about that. But of course, if I had PROFESSIONAL grade flashes.... hehehahahahaehhehehe

Oh well.

Oh Rebecca ~ I am right with you with the indoor camera use / light situation. Mine will not take good pictures at night, indoors . . . she is such a picky little thing. But yours turned out great! Your family is so adorable.

Sorry About Bob and the beer bottle..He thought he was being funny as you can see from his face. Too bad you can't somehow cover over it/somehow "erase" it for mom...After seeing these shots, I understood why he was laughing.

Rebecca,
I took it upon myself to save your shot to picasa, and I retouched the beer bottle so you cannot even see it anymore. If you would like I can send it to you..Just let me know!

Wendy~ Have you ever used Flicker? Occasionally I put photos there and within the program, if you "edit photo" it will take you to a free editing program called Picnik. Picnik does some things that Picasa can't do (whhich is why I occasionally use it.) It adds those vignette frames around photos, or other frames, and you can add text and silly little graphics. They have special holiday ones depending on the time of the year too.

There you have it! :-)

Elizabeth~hey-nothing is wrong with beer! I liked that he had a nice smile and if it takes a beer bottle ad to do it, then so be it!
