What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Foto Friday: Eyes

Last week's challenge was EYES. I kept having to fight the feeling that we have already DONE eyes before and only just now did I realize why: no matter who the subject is or what the picture is trying to say: if there is a person in it I 99.999999% of the time try to highlight the eyes by making ABSOLUTELY sure they are in focus and have good light in them. When you put that much emphasis on eyes, no wonder you feel like an eye challenge might be redundant!

I had lots of fun with this one. I love eye pictures.

* I had to put snowflake after snowflake on his eyelashes-because they would MELT before I even got the camera up to my eye! He was such a good sport though!

* Her eyes don't know WHAT color they want to be. Sometimes they look light brown, sometimes gray, but in this picture, TO ME they look blue. With gold...which happens to be what MY eyes are. Yup-that is what they are. For sure. ;-)

* One thing I hate about my eyes is that they bulge out like some sort of frog or something. Matt teases me (and gets me laughing so hard I cry) about getting him all wet when I blink. HA! (OK....way more funny in person.)

I guess my son inherited that from me:

*I don't know why I look so forlorn in this one. I think it might have something to do with looking directly at a white door brightly lit by a morning sun. (I wanted to get sunglare in the photo which meant the sun would have to be behind me so I needed SOMETHING to brighten up the front of me too.) ouch.

*Speaking of forlorn: this is the look (and tear) I got when I told Corynn she ought to share the new etch-a-sketch keychain she bought (with her own money!) with her brother. WHY?!? OH WHY?!?!?

*I include this one, not because it is anything special but because this is the first time I have EVER (in all her six years) captured Little Miss Corynn's eye color. In fact, this is the first time I have ever SEEN her eye color before.

Look! It has outer rings!

In real life and in photographs, all I ever see is BLACK. Like this:

And there you have it. Did I post enough pictures for you? Hello? HELLO?!? ANYBODY still THERE?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In order to participate in these Foto Friday challenges, you must take a photo (or several) pertaining to the challenge WITHIN the challenge week and post it/them to your blog. When you do, please link back to this blog {you may use the button if you like} so that perhaps we can get lots of participants! (Because, you know, the more the merrier!) Then simply link to your Foto Friday post with Mr. McLinky here so that we all can visit you and compare notes...
We are all at different "levels" of skill and all levels are welcome- whatever level you are at, CHALLENGE yourself to become better...concentrate on making a unique shot and strive to get that shot as extraordinary as you can. Your goal is to reproduce the photo in your mind. Every time we challenge ourselves---we get better. SO...let's get crackin'! (And remember: this is supposed to be FUN!)
DUE TO THE HOLIDAYS: We are going to take a temporary hiatus from Foto Friday Challenges until the first week of the NEW YEAR (golly!! not ready!!). Mainly because: LOTS of presents still need to be made. (blush)
I want you to snap snap SNAP away during the holidays and when we come back on January 8th, I will put a McLinky up for us to share the creme de la creme, the BEST of the BEST, our most artistic, exceptional Christmas shots, be they of children, CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, present reactions, decorations, and other holiday whatnots. So-try and challenge yourself this holiday season to capture the essence of Christmas and New Years in photograph form and then meet me back here in the new year~ because I WANT TO SEE THEM! :-)
Hopefully, the new year will bring with it lots of Foto Friday enthusiasm.
Lookin' good! (get it?!? I'm such a dork...)
I may be MIA today, the sickies have been building up, and landed hard today (baby hasn't been to sleep before 1am the last 2 days.) I'm tryin' though.
Andrew and the googley eyes crack me up, and Corynns tear is so pathetic!
Bulgy Frog eyes my foot! (I was gonna say my eye, but those high halls of dorkdom are getting rather full from me) I never thought they looked bulgy! All I've ever notices is how blue they are! I always wanted blue eyes.
Bulgy eyes? Who? Okay this is going to sound sappy and corny but your eyes remind me of the Caribbean ocean! So clear and full of depth...
Corynn's tear, wow what a picture! She just looks so pathetic... And doesn't she have the most delicious eyes! Okay I am a bit biased, my hubby and eldest have those same chocolate brown eyes... So deliciously nummy!!
Love the goggly frog eyes! They made me laugh...
Umm Foto Friday will be missed but I totally understand! We ended up opting for gift cards this year... It is so awesome how God provided the extra funds for all the gift cards as well!! We got asking price on the things we were looking to sell. We were approached by someone locally asking if we had homeschool curriculum to sell plus we ended up with rebates from purchases in the way of gift cards. Isn't God so good!
Oh good news! We found a house in Indiana out in the country. Smaller but an okay size yard w/ a neighbor who says we can use their garden plot and is a state trooper.
Corynn's tear really is so sad. You captured that moment perfectly. You really have a knack for capturing the person's mood in their eyes.
I LOVE these photos. When I use to draw I would always make the eyes the focal point and I do that a lot when I am taking pictures too. Not nearly as good as this of course. I love the close up of your daughter's eye...beautiful. I will be thinking of artistic ways to take Christmas photos this year. :)
sorry I did not get to participate with the eyes, we are dealing with the death of a very close friend. Just did not have it in me to take pictures in time for this. Sorry Rebecca.
Hey pretty lady! I've been meaning to write to you for so long, and I'm so ashamed of myself for not doing it sooner. :( This is a pathetic blog comment and I know it is by no means a bona fide letter, complete with postage. But first and foremost I wanted to tell you that it looks like we are unable to extend so many presents (made or store bought) this year but I had an idea. You and I take our girls, find a cute cookie tin, fill the tins with our family's favorite Christmas cookies (that where Corynn and Dabney come in) and mail them off across the miles to each other. You like the idea? Let me know. Love you so much!
Paula~ so sorry to hear of your loss! Prayers to you and his/her family...
Mandie~ that sounds like a WONDERFUL idea. Two nights ago-while I had been working on my presents-to-do list, my sewing machine started a'clanking. I have a fair number of sewn things to do yet (several of which were for YOU guys) that I don't think I am going to get done now. So this comes at a PERFECT time!!! YAY! I am so excited!
Thanks for the little notey note. Love ya.
I am bloated, honest-to-goodness-bloated, with blog-hopping, and I've only made it through a few blogs!
I'm at the library gorging on an ocean of internet, and John and the girls are due to pick me up any minute.
A few things:
One- I checked your blog first and have scrolled through months' worth of archives.
Two- There are so many new, gorgeous pictures! I wish I had taken them, which is lame praise (but sincere praise) from a jealous chum. I'm going to try to comment on a few before my jailers come to take me away from the precious computer.
Ready....GO!!!
p.s. What are you guys doing this Saturday.
p.p.s. I'm thinking of calling you today, which is normally reserved for emergencies only, because I had a funny dream last night.
I love the picture of Corynn with the tear...so pretty, ever while crying. :) And I love the first picture too.
As for me...
I forgot to put mine up yesterday...I was thinking I had the perfect entry but now I forgot to...
So here's the link to what I was going to post:
