What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Crafting On...

It is a veritable Elves Workshop around here these days.  The girls are setting up a craft booth on Black Friday and Saturday so we are getting things around for that.  I planned to do a bunch of stuff for it originally in order to make some extra money then decided it was too much added stress to worry about right now...and then I saw some crafty things happening in the house and it got me in the spirit of things.  I decided that I could do a few things as long as it continued to be FUN and not the least bit FRANTIC.  More to round out the table than to make a huge bit of cash.

I am sticking with super simple square hats with super bulky yarn that I can crochet up quickly (which I find are some of the cutest pixie pointed ones when worn) with special touches like fur pompoms, buttons or velvet ribbon.  I am sticking to baby sizes because they are faster (obviously) and because if they don't sell, I won't be the least bit disappointed since babies are always born and handmade gifts are always welcome.

I am hoping to do a peg doll nativity set.  Some spice mix ornaments.  Maybe some clay dollhouse food.  Adele is helping with felt barrettes and Corynn is painting a bunch of awesomeness like canvases, stationary and bookmarks.  It is kind of Corynn's thing- and some friends are setting up with her- so it will be fun no matter what.  But I do hope it winds up being a bit worth their while-if for no other reason than to show them that people other than mothers admire their excellent workmanship.

I am continuing to read Frankenstein even though it was meant to be a Halloween read...I have just been too exhausted to read much.  I am only about halfway through but I am enjoying it.  It wasn't what I had expected it to be.  I didn't expect to be heartbroken for the monster- but I am.

Haven't commented for a while, but I do read your posts, Rebecca, and they are a delight in m day. I love the elfin hats. I've made a few and now you have inspired me to go for it again. (in all my spare time... haha) You have a very talented family. I'm so impressed my Corynn's painting/drawing talent. Would she consider selling via Etsy? I would buy! Best of luck for the craft sale!

So much crafty fun! I love it! The girls and I are enjoying being creative together, too. 😊

John is reading Frankenstein as well as The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for school this year. After he finishes them he will also read The Deadliest Monster. An excerpt of the description on Amazon, "In an exciting journey that begins with our assumptions about the nature of man, The Deadliest Monster explores the impact that such assumptions have on our beliefs about God, truth, morality, psychology and politics." I thought you might be interested in reading it, too.
