What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

The completion of Matt's first week of work deserves some recognition...so Corynn and I made a cow cake to celebrate. Posted by Picasa

What a fun idea! And the cake turned out just darling. I'm sure Matt must feel good having a week's work in and feeling more settled at his new job.

How cute! I never would have thought of making a cow cake!

I went to post on your mousetale post but it wouldn't allow me to for some reason, so I'll just post here instead, the cowcake turned out cute! How does Matt like his new job(besides the every other Sunday thing)?
I don't know that I would have been able to be there as Matt squashed the poor mouse. I would have been crying and saying NO!!! I can't handle things like that, even if it is for the best- I guess I'm too overly-sensitive. In fact, when I lived in Vestal Center, as bad as this sounds, I shared my abode with just one mouse (and believe it or not, it really stayed only one and he didn't cause me much trouble at all, because I couldn't bear to put mousetraps in the house and kill the poor guy. And, to thank me, he was only a winter dweller, when the seasons changed to warmer, he would leave to be outside. I know this sounds like a spoof, but I am telling the truth! I guess he was a polite mouse :)

I love the cake! Nice job.

And about that mouse massecre...why, oh, why, did you not mail him to Depew?!?!? Poor Ignatz's remains molder in our garden, and our home cries out for a charming new critter. (Actually, I'm glad we don't yet have a replacement, because the move would probably kill it.)

The house must be truly becoming home sweet home if you're attracting mice already. (It must have been the cake.)

p.s. You should have Corynn teach that college kid a few lessons.

We have been dealing with mice here, too. Dave set up a trap the other night and heard SNAP! He had caught the little guy by the back leg. He took him all the way to the end of our property and let him go, although I don't think he'll live. Tell Matt to get some traps.. They are a lot easier than a broomhandle-hehe! :P

That mouse story gives me the heebie geebies...I can't stand mice, rats...whatever. My kids aren't even allowed to say the word "mouse" at the dinner table because it makes me lose my appetite! I am litterally sitting here getting the chills...Creepy!

I tried to comment on your mouse post above but it wouldn't let me. A mouse in my pantry would have freaked me out a little too! We've always taken our children into church services with us since they were little too, so that they will learn to sit quietly and appreciate worshipping the Lord with us. Not that we always keep them with us, but we want them to be able to be with us. I'm impressed that Corynn got so much from the service. You have taught her well. We always try to sing the songs our church often sings at home so our children will know them and can actively participate in worship.
