What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Here are the plans for my jarden del herbs. :-) As you can see, at the corner of the house I am going to be putting a rain barrel to collect (you guessed it) RAIN! I tried to spread the flowering herbs throughout to add color and interest. The back of the house (by the wildflowers and lavendar, Corynn and I are going to plant sunflowers. I ran out of room on the page! BTW~I used my new birthday Pastel SHARPIES to draw this! hehehe Posted by Picasa

Can you believe it is against the law to collect rain water in the state of Colorado?!?! It is one of the reasons why we may not buy our homestead here. LOTS of crazy laws out there. LOL!! Your garden plans look BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to come and see them! =^) Maybe someday this side of heaven! =^)

You are so organized. Now I hope you will post pictures of it when it's in full bloom and nice and green and beautiful! Have a great day! I enjoyed the pics from Chuck E. Cheese too! We haven't been there in a while (not sure if that is a good or bad thing LOL). ~Jen

Rebecca,

Your plans look great! I agree with Jen, you've got to take pictures and share them with us!

I've planted lots into my flower garden! Most of it was given to me by my mother. She was moving some things and gave me extras! I didn't draw out any plans I just started sticking stuff in the ground. I hope it looks nice when everything has matured and is in full bloom!

We still haven't put in our herb garden. We're hoping to tackle that project soon though! I can't wait to have fresh herbs to use in our meals!

Off to look at the rest of the pictures! :)

Oh, you might want to find a way to contain your mint! Otherwise it will completely take over the garden. :)

Sorry about yet another post.

Your lemon balm will need to be contained, too, for the same reason as the mint.

Of course, maybe you want it to fill in all the empty spaces.

P~ WHAT?!?! I can't believe that! How can they DO that? How silly! I hope that you ARE able to see my garden in real life...that would be amazing!

Jen~I will definately post pictures of the finished product! I hope you got my last comment to you!

Leah~I am jealous! I don't have anyone to share their excesses with me! I keep reading about how gardeners do this all the time-but no such luck for me! Well, I won't say that, my MIL has shared a few plants with me.

About containing certain herbs-man! They should probably ALL be contained! hehehe. Herbs just go crazy! A few of the big spreaders I planned to contain with spare tires that I painted. I am not a 'bright colored' kind of girl-but since Corynn is at the perfect age AND the rain barrel we are putting in the herb garden is BLUE, I thought I would paint them fun colors. I planned on containing the basil and the mint. I didn't know about the lemon balm. I do want the garden to look kind of wild though-so I may decide to let a few run free. Definately the flowering ones!

I love this on paper! Can't wait to hopefully see it in person sometime this summer.

oh, yeah, and I give hearty support to fun colors. A very cool idea.

Hello Rebecca!

I just wanted to add to Leah's suggestion with a little more detail.

Anything with a square stem like Lemon Balm, Bee Balm, Mint are all in the mint family and spread like nobodies business. What was suggested to me at one time is to use a 5 gallon bucket to plant them in, put them in to the ground INSIDE the bucket with a 1" lip around the edges. That way they won't spread by root anywhere outside the 5 gallon bucket.

Having said that, the other thing to "contain" is the children pulling on the plants or flowers and making everything pretty by spreading those everywhere. LOL Yes, this happened to me! LOL

I really like how you've done your plans. I'll have to draw something up for my front yard herb garden. We're replacing the side walk soon and filling it in with an herb garden. :)

It sounds like you've had quite a bit of fun at the new house. :) Dreaming is half the fun cuz it doesn't cost anything, huh?! ;)

Have a great day!

Blessings,
Regina

Your garden spread looks lovely! I love the idea of a rain barrel! So much in fact, that I may place one in my own garden. I also love planting herbs in my garden that I can then use for cooking, and it is so handy because they are always right there. I can't wait to see pictures as your garden begins to take shape!
