It didn't stay that way for long!
The best time to make gingerbread houses (I discovered this year!) is AFTER Christmas! All the Christmas candies are 50% off, so a trip to the dollar store left us with LOADS of candies! Besides, keeping such a fun project for AFTER the holidays DOES prevent post-Christmas blues. :-)

Not only is it less expensive - It's fun stuff to do, in the lull-week-after Christmas.
