What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Foto Friday: Berries

Foto Friday has come around again~

Last week's theme was BERRIES.

I barely made this challenge and did so only by the skin of my teeth. Literally.

All week I was busy doing this and that until finally last night came and I had no more time left! I got home at dusk last night from a day out and before even unloading the car of it's groceries I ran inside to get all the "picture paraphanalia". The house was already black-couldn't take any indoors without using flash. And you KNOW how much I hate flash.

I stole the last few moments of the ever-dimming light and did the best I could do with those few moments, using the highest possible ISO speed. This morning, when I was reviewing the pictures I noticed that each picture got darker and because of the high ISO, all were more grainy that I had hoped.

So overall, I am disappointed in my results. I was excited, however, to get a chance to try the TIPSY wine glass idea. I think that could be a really great shot, given the proper elements (like: and not shooting in impending darkness). I have been wanting to do that for a while but never had the chance, and really did have to stretch the whole "berry theme" to accomodate it for the challenge....but you forgive me, right?

I like the photo but these berries look too much like winter for my liking. Yikes. NOT ready for snow. The white, though, is actually just a reflection of the sky in a mirror. (You'll see.)

This one is just to be silly. It makes me think the rasberry is checking itself out in the mirror. It is actually two rasberries, one being magnified with a magnifying glass.

~~~~ BEHIND THE SCENES ~~~
The first three photos were taken with this little set up and this cutie assistant. The first was without the white paper (I just used the reflection of the sky.) The second is where Corynn came in, holding the paper for me, for an uncluttered background. The third is just me holding up the magnifying glass between two rasperries, still on the mirror.
This is the setup for the wine glass idea. I used duct tape to secure the glasses on an incline and our dry erase board for the background. I took the shot with my body aligned to the incline so that the glasses would appear as though they were standing straight up. Ingenious, no? I can say that because I didn't think it up. I saw a photo like it one time and tucked it away in my mental storehouse in the "try this someday" file.
There ya have it. My contributions in all their grainy glory!
Can't wait to see YOURS!
In order to participate in these Foto Friday challenges, you must take a photo (or several) pertaining to the challenge and post it to your blog (and when you do, please link back to this blog {you may use the button if you like} so that perhaps we can get lots of participants! Because, you know, the more the merrier!) Then simply link to your Foto Friday post with Mr. McLinky here so that we all can visit you and compare notes...
Most importantly~challenge yourself, but HAVE FUN doing it.
the larger photos are cut off on the right side a bit...that is the price I pay for having large photos. But sometimes it makes the photos appear uncentered or something. You can always click on the image to see the whole thing.
If you care.
Which you probably don't.
Because, who would?!
I care. *pats Rebecca on back* You are a nut! I LOVE nuts, btw! :P :)
I LOVE THE FIRST PHOTO! The wine glass idea is soooooo cool! Thanks for showing the behind the scenes...
I took my photos yesterday at lunch! I so understand the 'last minute plague!' My camera was set on some weird setting and when I went to look at my pictures the exposure was WAY off...so I did end up editing them a bit...(I had a personal challenge of not editing AT ALL or very little)
Anyhoo...nuff about ME! :D Your photos are great! So creative!
Blessings, Rebecca!
The tipping wine glasses photo is so cool! I love that Corynn helped you with the photos. She's such a great little helper.
Great pictures! Thank you so very much for including the behind the scenes information!!! Every week I learn a little more which is saying a lot from a NOVICE photographer!
I will let you in on a little secret... I have quit looking at all the other links prior to submiting mine. Otherwise I end up trashing what I had and reshooting. So these are the original, unaltered, non-edited (other than cropped) photos! Hope you enjoy!
By the way, you are so creative! I love how you can see art in all that you do!!
Keep up the great ideas!!
Love, Peggy
I CARE Rebecca...ha ha. Actually I had a question. you know how you mentioned before that tutorial on enlarging your photos? Well do you use the adobe that she was using to change the size of the file? Or is there something on picasa?
Next...You are SO creative...I really am just trying to make sure that I HAVE a picture to enter...ha ha. I love the wine glass idea...and love the mirrored berry branch. Motion will be interesting..we shall see.
WOW and AMAZING!!! These are great, and I love the behind the scenes photos too! I bet you could write your own book with all of your themes, ideas, behind-the-scenes, and photos! Especially because you utilize what you have, and for those who are on a budget, or busy, this is a lovely result.
Love these! I especially like the "behind the scenes" picture and explanation. That would be a fun challenge sometime is behind the scenes! :D
Motion. Oh I so hope I am better in time for motion!! OK, you DO realize you WILL have to give us some TIPS BEFORE next Friday on how to capture motion!!! :D :D :D
Great, as usual Rebecca! I thought that the wine glasses had been stuck in the freezer to get that angle, I love the behind the scenes shots.
I actually took all my pictures LAST Friday, I was so excited, I grabbed my camera and ran right out to get them!
This coming Friday will really be a challenge, I'm not sure I'll be able to do it!
I was surprised at how many of you appreciated the behind the scenes shots. I thought it might take away from the photos. Glad to know it didn't!
Peggy~ Definitely post your photos first before perusing. We are challenging OURSELVES not in a competition with others...and this is supposed to be fun! If you are always second-guessing, that is NO fun for you!
Wendy~ when you put the photos into your post (in Blogger) all you have to do is alter a bit of information under EDIT HTML. Here is the link. If you post from Picasa, you will have to back and edit after you post it. Just change the size from s400 to s640.
Here is the link to the tutorial: she makes way more sense than I do.
Paula~ ever heard of panning? That is moving the camera at the same speed of your moving object. Or you could have a slow shutter speed which wouldkeep the shutter open longer, thus creating blur to show movement. An energetic shot. A shot that is made at the moment of motion (jumping, etc.) Those are a few hints that come to the top of my head.
Bonnie~ YES YOU CAN! YOU CAN! YOU CAN!! YOU CAN!!! These are supposed to be challenges, right? Well, let's challenge ourselves and whatever we come up with will be good because we TRIED! We will all get E for efforts! :-)
Rebecca,
Yes I know I ought not second guess myself but its the perfectionist coming out... However I am having SO much FUN!! I love the challenges! OH it looks like I am about to be left... better go!! Off to pick up a package at the PO.
I can't wait until next week! I must admit it is something I've been working on. Having boys in sports we take TONS of pictures of action/motion photos! I am including one that our younger son took for his digital photography class earlier this year. It is really neat...
Okay I really am going now... I'm getting the "look".
