What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Foto Friday, MACRO day

It's that time again! How did everyone like getting "upclose and personal" with their camera this week? For those just joining us, we challenged ourselves to try out MACRO photography. Without a macro lens, that is.

This week was a bad week for me AND my camera; I didn't have time to get outside and snap pictures, I haven't really been in the right frame of mind, no fresh flowers in the house AND my camera is acting up on me. (I think I work the poor thing too hard and she decided to go on a vacay)

With all those things swirling about, my my almost favoritist genre of photography challenge week was a bomb. I leave you with my breakfast and a map. (all taken about five minutes ago) WOW. Profound.

This is pathetic to me because, as I said, I get all goose-bumped when it comes to taking a good upclose shot. The challenges are photos taken within the challenge week.

However.

Since:

~I bombed this week ( I blame the camera)
~some people might not know exactly what I mean by macro
~some people might not believe a truly upclose view can be achieved WITHOUT a macro lens....

I give you some examples from my archives:

None of these were taken with a macro lens. In FACT, all but the spider one were taken with a....

BRACE YOURSELVES, PEOPLE..........

POINT AND SHOOT!!!

In fact, that little point and shoot takes better close up shots than my canon does. Goes to show you~ you don't need fancy equipment to take fancy shots.

Alrighty then.

Hope everyone else did better than me this week!!!!

In order to participate in these Foto Friday challenges, you must take a photo (or several) pertaining to the challenge and post it to your blog (and when you do, please link back to this blog {you may use the button if you like} so that perhaps we can get lots of participants! Because, you know, the more the merrier!) Then simply link to your Foto Friday post with Mr. McLinky here so that we all can visit you and compare notes...

Most importantly~challenge yourself, but HAVE FUN doing it.

The challenge for this coming week is THANKFUL. (This was a challenge that I pushed forward since it is the week leading up to Thanksgiving! We will share our THANKFUL photos next Friday.

Same time, same place. Now, go shoot something! :-)

Here is my breakfast Ha-ha!

You have given me hope that I can still take decent pictures with my little point and shooter job, since yours (big surprise) are GORGEOUS!

Just so you know how much you are wearing off on me, I take pictures of pretty much everything, and have been known to run out wet headed, clad only in a robe (ahem- this morning), and sometime shoes, when the lighting elements are "just right" so I can take pictures. Thank goodness we live out in the country, our poor neighbors probably think I'm nuts....

I loved all of your photos, Rebecca. I remember the ones from your archives. You challenge me to become better. When I grow up I want to take photos just like you!

There was supposed to be an "AND" between lighting and elements. Sorry it was bugging me looking at it.

I started fiddling around with the settings on my camera, I'm getting braver! :) Now I just wish the weather would cooperate so I could shoot outside! I never really notice how ugly most flash photos are until you mentioned that you don't like to use the flash, now it bugs me and I'm always trying to look for a natural light shot. They really do look so much nicer. Great close ups.

I actually like your banana pictures, but then again, I love food shots. ;) The map picture is cool because it reminds me of the map we use to have up while hubby was deployed.

The archive pictures are beautiful.

Beautiful photos, Rebecca! Sometimes it's more a matter of being able to SEE things than the technical aspects of photography. You have the wonderful knack of being able to see (and capture) beauty everywhere.

Rebecca,

You're macros are always wonderful, I think it is your unique way of looking at the world around you that allows you to take some of your magnificent shots.

I remember the spider picture so well. In fact, it sent me in search of spiders and creepy-crawlies this past week, but I just didn't seem to find the subject for which I was searching.

The only problem with this coming week's challenge is there is just so, so very much for which to be thankful... and I already have trouble narrowing down what I share. LOL

I love your point and shoot macro shots! I, too, know what you mean by uninspired! With less than 6 hours of daylight right now it has been hard to get good shots and going outside is out of the question!

The banana picture made my mouth water! I could almost smell it!

Now for the question... How do I go about getting the button on my blog? I FINALLY figured out how to add an embedded link (thank you Ladies!!) but can't figure out the whole button thing.

Thank you for the challenges!!

I don't have a macro lens, so I can't do these lovely photos. I love them! Wish I could do them. But can't afford a macro lens, now.

Yours are beeeeeeeeeeutiful.

The nature shots, especially the dragonfly and spider are the kind of shots you see in national graphic magazine...no other word to describe them but STUNNING!

ps..you didn't have to leave a comment on my foto friday but thank you!

You always have these incredible shots.. I wonder why I can't do something similar, but I have no special lenses.. just my little Nikon. I can't figure out how to turn that flash off.
I loved the peacock feather.. and you really captured the texture of that banana.. and the spider jewels? WOW!!!
