What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

All good gifts

Monday morning. School begins again. The baby is crying. The rabbit escaped. Sent hubby off. Dust bunnies everywhere. A deck of cards, spilled. Clothes to put away.

AND YET.

The baby got fed. School got done in RECORD time, with record smiles. Baby got fed. I caught the bunny (both living and dust). 52 pick up is a fun game for a not-quite-two year old. Clothes to put away means clean clothes to wear. And absence makes the heart grow fonder.

It's all in how you look at things.

Looking at the otherside of the coin today, revolting against my natural inclination.

There is SO much good.

(If I can muster nothing else for the week, I am glad for this time of blogging especially. A wonderful summary of my very blessed weeks, each and every one.)

  • an afternoon at Newman park, a.k.a our yard
  • long grass
  • bake-able clay
  • prodigal rabbits
  • three loads washed and dried in a blissfully sunny day
  • Grandpa-made maple syrup
  • school mornings that fly by
  • king size blankets on queen size beds
  • bedhead this cute
  • matched socks
  • freshly vacuumed carpets
  • hot water, cold water. RUNNING water.
  • kerchiefs holding back wisps
  • the first frost~ the ending of garden chores
  • caramel apple dip
  • brothers
  • cows that HAVEN'T gotten out
  • 10 more (and younger!) chickens, for FREE!
  • basking in the sunshine
  • holding Matt's hand during church
  • a babywrap that can get a baby to sleep in about 5.3 seconds flat
  • baby burps, when they actually come. (I can't burp a baby for the life of me.)
  • Matt saying "Can I hold you?" in the deep hush of darkness
  • barn windows lit in the darkness of morning~ a man doing chores
  • big tarps
  • another layer for the lasagna garden
  • eskimo kisses
  • creamy zucchini soup on a chilly evening
  • the sparkle of my ring; 8 years later I still steal glances
  • book sales
  • clothing cast-offs
  • a truckbed of leaves to play in
  • wooden spool garland lining the office
  • Modest Mussorgsky during dinner
  • Watching Corynn and Andrew dance together~they do it better than Matt and I
  • turqouise
  • pizza with bacon, a treat!
  • cinnamon rolls on a Saturday morning
  • pigs, romping and racing like children.
  • seeing my reflection in his eyes
  • The Waltons, borrowed from the library. (I COVET that house.)
  • feasting, in our own way

#599 ~ #640 bits of grace to fill my days.

It's true -- it's all in how you look at it! Murmurin and complaining only robs us from seeing all the many blessings God bestows upon us. Thank you for the reminder.

And thank you for posting pictures of the kiddos for me to see. Give hugs all around for me.

I too delight in the "Can I hold you" request. Oh yes, please, until the very end.

I also love baby burps, so sweet.

I'm counting His gifts as well.

Thank you...

For being brave enough to share your most private moments.

For saying things no one else will say.

For being grateful for the littlest things that mean the absolute most.

I find wonder, awe, envy, strength, courage, and gratitude in the words you share.

Mostly I'm grateful...that you have the life you have and that you share it's beauty with anyone willing to take the time to read. I'm willing and it always gives me something to aim for.

Hugs,
Julie

I still look at my ring too, after almost fourteen years, and I especially love that my husband of fourteen years loves to hold me too.
I love the way you say things.
I love the picture of you kissing Judah in the sunshine.
Love.

Smiles all around! I love reading your lists of blessings. it makes me so much more aware of how blessed i am. a reminder to not take life for granted. to rejoice in all every way God has blessed us. to not just look at the "spectacular" but to realize the most humble is the SPECTACULAR! God is so good to me, giving me more than i ever desired. The fact that He willingly gave his Son so that i might have eternal live with him is breath taking. and HIS SON willingly gave his life for me... something i too often take for granted or simply overlook!!!

Thank You! :)

These blessing lists are a wonderful reminder from week to week of God's grace toward us, aren't they? It's easy to get discouraged when we forget His grace, but so EASY to be encouraged when we stop to think of all the blessings that He bestows.

Just so's you know- you're on my list of want to meet people, too. :-)

And I forgot to comment earlier that I LOVE the photo of Judah nursing. Brings back such good memories. Oh, to hold a baby in my arms and nurse them once again. Cherish these days- they don't last near long enough!
