What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

A spoonful of sugar

Over the weekend I tried to get a Christmas Card worthy family photo. My goal is always to get it done around, you know, September...when the weather is still nice. And reality is always, you know, when it is freezing cold outside. One year I wanted until like December 18th or something crazy like that. (stupid, stupid.)

Suffice it to say, my family made it about 10 minutes before giving up. I got a decent shot (notice "A" as in singular and "decent" as in not enviable) but the rest were in the dud category.  Corynn was a grouchy snowman, Adele' pulled a Marilyn moment, Judah snuck in his trusty pocketknife, Ruby photo-bombed and Andrew stood like a steadfast tin soldier.

The duds, in my opinion, are also the most funny- so, because laughter is the best medicine... here you go.

Swallow up!

(I have to say I may go with the last one because Adele' is just the cutest thing in it...and everyone has REAL smiles which are better than fake ones any old day.)

Maybe your Christmas card could have a little sequence of the photos :-) Your children are so sweet!

I think there are some great ones. I like the actions ones where people don't look so stoic! And you look great Rebecca!!!! The best one to me is the one with Judah doing his oval mouth. It's great.

I can sympathize. I take a Christmas photo each year with my six grandchildren, ages seven months to four years. We have done three elves in a tub, children all tucked in their bed with Mrs. Claus, and children popping out of gift boxes. I have never had one, perfect photo. Mostly, they make folks laugh. This year, I have great plans for the nativity scene. We are shooting it on Saturday. I have made costumes for Mary, Joseph, two shepherds, a sheep and an angel. Wish me luck, please.

aaack! my laptop won't let me watch this without an update of some sort, and who knows how to do that stuff?!
on the positive side, just means more time to re-soak up yesterday's Golden Boy!

I love it! Every single one. You my lady are one hot momma! Love your outfit. Love your hair. Love your earrings. Love your boots. Seriously you are stunning.

I wanted to badly to get fall pictures but it never did happen. Now I should be thinking like you and figuring out a time to do a picture for Christmas cards. I am such a procrastinator!

I loved the last one. So happy, and natural. They were all fun though. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Love, love, love it!!! It's too bad you can't send that little video as your Christmas card. It is beautiful! I literally laughed out loud at the dog and that last picture is priceless! We miss you all so much!

Oh Rebecca, this was great! :) It's so hard to pick, I LOVE the one with Adele's hand in front of her face, but I also love her dress flying up and Judah's O Mouth too! That's going to be a tough one! Thanks for sharing this, it is adorable! :)

I did love the 3rd one where Judah is saying OH....but the last is cute too..

you look fabulous..and I love the colour scheme...we just did ours...and like you said..you have about 5-10 mins usually....and the best shots...were after the set up ones as a family...the 3 kids lying down..and the toddler laughing a belly laugh..which made my 12 yr old do a true laugh (rare with aspergers) ..so I chose the best 3 shots....but the colours were all icky...I hate the colours in Virginia this late....everything where I took the pic was grey. oh well. Hubby always wonders why I do this to myself...it ages me like 10 years.. Next year I want to do them in AUGUST at the ocean....if I can remember to build a sand snowman....

Wow you guys are great. Now I kinda regret not posting the "keeper" to see if you would send that out or the 'blopper' ones! What's a girl to do?

And thanks for all the compliments on how *I* look. You all know how to make a girl feel perdy!

Rosemary- those sound precious! When I no longer have children at home, I am ABSOLUTELY going to skeef my grandchildren for pictures like that! Good luck with Saturdays shoot!

MapleleafMom- I feel your pain. I always say "AUGUST!" too and then- never do it. And then, wonder WHY I didn't when the 'shoot' is a flop. Some year I will wisen up (I hope!) PS. A sand snowman sounds SO awesome.
