What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

An even number

Though today is my birthday, it seems more just like any other day. I don't seem another year older, just a day.

I woke up this morning with two kidlets bouncing on my bed, singing at the top of their voices some very....original version of happy birthday. Andrew's arms were outstretched like he was Bucchini and Corynn made up nonsense sentences containing "love you" "birthday" and "Bunkin". So-who knows. Maybe they were singing to Bunkin!

I have been begging Matt to bring me home some wildflowers for, like, ever and even tried bribing his coworkers into sharing their blooms. Lilac season (one of my most favorite flowers) is peak right now and it won't be long before they are just an anticipation for next year so I thought, "hey. It's my birthday. I am going to do something wild and crazy."

Well. It really isn't wild and crazy. I just walked up to a complete strangers house and asked if they would be so kind as to share the wealth. They were.

And I got a birthday bouquet after all.
I

Corynn told me she was going to wear her fanciest party dress in honor of my birthday, but really, I think she just wanted to be a princess.

And I made my own birthday cupcakes. Blooms upon chocolate upon more chocolate. My kind of dessert.

So, even though it could have felt like any other ordinary day, I have tried to make it special for myself until Matt comes home and he can make it special FOR me. :-)

Happy Birthday to You!
What a lovely sensible day you seem to have had. I admire you asking for the lilacs -- people are so kind if you approach them the right way.
