What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

I have no words

Guess my hunting, acknowledging, and thanking for the GOOD just got a little bit more necessary....

CPSIA Law Bans Sale of Used Children's Items

The Sale of Children's Books to be Banned
By Heather Idoni
---

Oh, how I wish this were a joke! But it is a grim and looming,
almost Orwellian, reality.

Effective February 10th, in the United States, the sale of
all children's books (books intended for children ages 12 and
under) is to be PROHIBITED. Every single book printed prior
to the ruling is affected, whether new or used. New books in
production are required to include a "lead-free" certification
and will be the only books that are legal to offer for sale.

What does this mean to the homeschooling family?

Well, for one, curriculum fairs across the country will be
cancelled as book vendors scramble to figure out how to comply
with the new ruling. Complete book inventories will have to be
destroyed -- the ruling even prohibits giving away the books!
Local thrift stores will be hard hit -- most will likely have to
close their doors -- yes, even Goodwill and Salvation Army.

Clothing, toys and books -- even CDs and DVDs are included in the
ruling. Thrift stores will no longer be able to accept or process
anything (including clothing) that would be intended for a child...

Our newspaper is coming to take photos of me in my studio. They're doing a story about this because I brought it to their attention. It will put me out of business, not to mention what it will do to every other aspect of businesses that have anything to do with children!

On another note--did you see on the news tonight that the P*RN*GRAPHY business is asking for a bailout! What is this contry coming to???

My, God! I am almost crying... what is happening? Okay, post-baby hormones are hitting at the worst moment... why is this even happening? Save the tree, kill the babies. I want my Jesus to come back.

Wait... what will this mean for libraries? This is ridiculous!

Rebecca, If you go to their website, they have clarified the law: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09086.html

From what I can understand, this will not affect thrift shops, etc.

I wonder the same as Mandy- does this mean all libraries across the country will have to shut their doors? Their books I'm sure are not lead free certified, and children would be able to come into contact with them, even IF they pulled the books off the shelves. What in the world was President Bush THINKING! I have to say, I have lost some respect....

Good news....this law will not apply to used clothing. I guess there were lots of unhappy people.
