What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Not-so-very Vacation

Last week Matt took some vacation time from work.

Sadly, he spent it....working at home! The man NEEDS to be doing something productive (I love that about him) and there is always plenty to do around here. We had garden things to do, he had a tractor to take apart, mowers to spruce up, an electric fence to install, among other things.

Someday we will have a real vacation (next year?!) since having him working isn't really....FAMILY time 24/7.....but-sharing every meal together (even breakfast!) is ever so nice and snuggling into one another during an alarm-clock free morning is even better. SO, I'll take it. ;-)

We worked. We went out to eat a couple times (!!!). We never went to bed before midnight. We lingered in bed in the morning. We wrestled. We played. AND We ate ice cream. Lots of ice cream.

On Friday, I insisted we had to do SOMETHING away from the garage/yard/life work and do something that would allow Adele' (the young one who isn't fast enough) to spend some time with Papa. (And me too, I am not so fast, either.)

(What's up with the fly catching ALL the children are doing!?! One never knows...)

We went for a day trip to a new and beautiful park. We walked hand in hand on the docks, we talked and talked in the car, we giggled and laughed at the playground and then we all got ice cream cones. ICE CREAM CONES!! (When you buy cones from an ice cream store, it takes ice cream eating to whole new levels!)

It was a good day.

It was a good WEEK.

While Matt was working on teaching children to ride on calves and installing fencing, I was able to...
  • go yardsaling. TWICE.
  • tend to a sorely-neglected flowerbed (pictures to come!)
  • clean my very messy craft room (finally sorted through a literal truck-load)
  • actually sew something start to finish (pictures to come, again!)
  • sort through clothes, mounds of it, in the switch from winter to summer
Wow. That list is sorta measley considering I was so busy! Of course, since we were at home, my duties as cook, laundry doer and home-tidier were still in full throttle. So there.

I *WAS* productive.

Much was happening, but not much blogging. As it should be. Lots of wonderful bits to share, when I am able. This week is proving to be overwhelmingly busy too, so I can't promise much. But...someday.

A picture that Matt took of ME. A rarity, for sure. One that I don't despise of myself~ even more rare.

Though you will notice my happily hanging double chin.

And for some odd reason, my rather rotund 6-month pregnant belly doesn't seem to be there in that moment. Is Smooch as camera shy as his/her mother?!

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful week! I don't know about going away, sometime I think being home, and doing day trips is the best. Not that we go on vacations either, the closest we have come to that is a trip to TN. for a wedding: left at 8pm Friday evening, got home around 8pm Sunday evening.

When did Miss Adyyay turn into a little girl? And such a little chipmunk cheeked one? My goodness, she suddenly looks huge!
Looking forward to seeing what you got done!
