What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

When the cats are away

In the last two days...

~I have made 28 plates of food (that is just four meals)
~I have occupied 70 very busy little fingers (on rainy days)
~I have made sure that 14 feet were walking in the way they should go
~I have covered 70 little toes in socks and shoes and covered 7 heads with hoods, repeatedly.
~I have taken care of seven little busy bodies, the oldest of which is 6 years old (my own Corynn)
~I have powdered four diapered bums and made countless trips to the pee potty for those in-betweens.

I took care of my sisters' children for the last two days and a stowaway child from daycare along with my own, making seven children under six.

I took lots of books, puzzles and playdough with me in a big fun basket of newness (for the other children, not my own). I worked on school while the babies were resting. I had thrown together crockpot meals in the morning, so when I got home I didn't have to worry about throwing together a hasty meal while exhausted. (WHY don't I use that thing more often, by golly it is handy!) I scheduled blog posts over the weekend (which is why you saw me here.)

This means, though, that I was away from home, from laundry, from garden, from my to-do list and from all daily routines for two days---which seems short except in the life of a mother and homekeeper! When you consider the mountainous pile of laundry that had already begun to accumulate before these two days due to a rainy week beforehand (no clothesline) and dust that stubbornly falls even in your absence, you can understand what an awful lot there is to do!!

Every meal as I would line up all the necessary plates, I would chuckle at the sight. I felt like Lucille Ball in Yours, Mine and Ours. And that is not a bad thing. ;-)

And you are cheerful! That says lots!
That movie cracks me up , and while I didn't come from a blended family, with 10 of us, I could certainly relate. (I think I might go dig this one out and watch it while sewing later!)

oh, yeah I don't use my crock-pot enough either, and I love that thing.

Thank you so much for everything Rebecca- I'm sure it wasn't easy having so many little ones runnin' amuck (especially yesterday when it was raining) so it means so much to me that you did this..THANK YOU....

I recently found your blog and love reading about your family. My two boys are grown now and I don't have any grandkids yet but am looking forward to that sometime in the future. We always just wanted two, but if we had more we would have gone with one of these:

Peter (Biblical, masculine, not overdone)
Paul (ditto)
Rafe
Erika
Norah
Ella
Naomi

I know a baby Ezra in TX--about a year old now. Good name!

Best of luck to you and many blessings!
