What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

A visit from the Old Man

Old Man Winter, that is.

Winds howl, snow gusts and flakes fall in torrents all morning. Then the gray, frigid skies take a break while they admire their handiwork....clean, unadulterated white. Everywhere. The skies rest and I know they are not done, merely gearing up for the grand finale. Sleet, in all her sleek glory will come to the party too and they will dance the night away together. Inches and inches of their twirls are expected.

And so it is~ we are officially snowed in.

But wood is piled high in the basement, a water supply is at the ready and oil lamps are filled (just in case) while wood crackles warmth.

Plenty of quilts and afghans atop flannel sheets, the pantry is well stocked and warm soup is simmering. Creamy Zucchini. From those long ago summer days of "please not another zucchini!" shredded, packed and frozen for just such a storm...

And of course, me surrounded by some of my most favorite people

and ample choices of quiet fun for a snowy evening.

I'm jealous of your fire. We lost our place to cut wood (when my brother started heating his house with wood), and only have a tiny bit, which we are saving for an emergancy power outage.

We've snow too, lashings of it, and sleet, and freezing rain... To cold to go out, much to my kidlets dismay.

Stay warm!

The storm barely knicked us, only about 5 inches of snow and 2 -3 foot snow drifts. No ice, no sleet, and today, sunshiny blue skies! I am almost jealous of your snow day...We had one a month or so ago and it was the best weekend I can remember in a LONG time (pics on my blog!)
Thanks for sharing...stay safe!
