What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Woe {was} me

ooohh boy, has it been a week.

I have had these horrendous headaches leaving me weak, nauseated and unable to function ever since last Saturday. I have somehow made it through the days near comatose but then just go to bed as soon as I was able and sleep for 12 hours until I wake again to the pounding of my head. I could stomach MAYBE one meal a day. The first few days I figured it was just a migraine, then it just got weird. I started thinking I might have a tumor or something. A WEEK, of headaches? ME? (And no, I am no hypochondriac) So then, on top of the pain was the worry about what was WRONG with me, and hating that I wasn't eating well enough for a nursing mother to be eating and stressing about not being all I ought to be/want to be for my husband and children . And then, of course, wondering if I was going to die.

And on top of that, Judah cherub has turned Judah bear for the past two weeks on account of teething (as is evidenced by his clawed up face). Poor guy. He can be downright inconsolable, which to a Mother whose head is already pounding.... is not a cool thing.

And oh yes, let's not forget the nursing malfunctions going on. Let's just say....blisters. In places there shouldn't be blisters. OUCH. 'Nuff said.

So this past week has been one in which the only goal was to SURVIVE.

But we are all doing much better now that :::

  • I managed to get a freezer teether made for Judah bear which gives him a bit of relief,
  • that my entire body is slathered and smeared with Lansinoh and Vitamin E (only slight exaggeration.)
  • I finally went to the doctor yesterday. (See? I told you I am no hypochondriac!) and got a medicine regime to follow. (It ISN'T a tumor.)
In fact, I even ate TWO meals yesterday and could walk without bracing my head for the blows. Still not 100%, but definitely on the mend. HUrrah!

Which is a GREAT thing since Sunday just happens to be a birthday to the worlds greatest and my only, and he deserves a FEAST. And THAT he will get, along with some pretty swell gifts ifIdosaysomyself.

So Now you know why I haven't blogged or returned emails this week but I am now and will presently. Foto Friday will be up and running a bit late today as the old linky system I used is now charging money (rats) so I need to look for a replacement.

And for those who have tried calling me-Mom. Elizabeth. ----> Our phone has been out of commission but I have been too ill to call them to come fix it. Matt called 'em yesterday and they should be coming sometime today. SO. That is the story.

Re-reading a bit here:
try raw cabbage leaves for the blisters, or wet tea bags (I just used plain old tea, though perhaps chamomile would be pleasant). Really truly they help.
No way to um, delicately tell you how to use them, but I'm sure you can figure that out on your own.

Oh Rebecca! I'm so sorry to hear that you've been feeling so poorly. I've dealt with headaches most of my life, nearly every day, and bad ones, too. I know your misery, unfortunately.

Please keep resting as you are able, and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Is it a sinus infection, Rebecca? I had HORRIBLE headaches and found out it was my sinuses!! :*(

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your rough week! I'll be praying for you and your family as you continue to recover. God Bless you!

I received your comment about our daughter's name. :) How neat is that. Here is a post I did about the meanings of our children's names: http://hsuemnicht.blogspot.com/2010/06/reflections.html
I see you also have a Judah. :) We like that name in our house too. Our Jude has turned into a Lion a few times himself. ;-) Where did you get the teether idea? I've never seen one like that. So neat!
May God's grace and mercy abound to you!

I just had the same type of headaches and they lasted for a week too except mine were ALL day long and I had to have my hubby stay home from work...ughhhhh. My doctor said it was a sinus infection (he thought) and put me on a ton of meds which I only took for 2 days because I'm preggers and just wasn't comfortable with all the stuff. I'm better now though....so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I hate weeks like that. :(

(I've found that the WORST thing you can do when you start imagining that your "symptoms" are signs of something worse, and your brain starts freaking out on all the terrible possibilities...
is GO ONLINE and look up all the awful things those "symptoms" could be signs of. Believe me, you will find that all your symptoms eerily line up with some awful disease and you will be totally convinced you are going to die and you will go in your bathroom and cry. Ask me how I know this... No don't.)

Ooooh... hate those blisters too. You'd think after four kids... but, nope.
