What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Glory be!

Matt has been home from work this week~ this glorious week!~ in order to get a much needed reprieve from an overloaded work schedule and in order to get some much needed Hopestead tasks done, one of which is the pasture fence.

Which means the man has worked me harder than a workhorse in Amish country this week!  And I am tired!  And my shoulders ache!  And I have picked up more heavy, cumbersome locust fence posts than I care to recall.  I was thankful today when Matt's dad showed up to help him put up the wire...it gave me a day off to rest my weary bones.  Just a bit more work tomorrow (including Matt building two gates) and the job will be done and the animals will be able to get all the water they need from the creek and not from our arms hauling buckets.  Glory be!

I am extremely thankful for my little dearies who, being neglected by a working Mama and Papa, jump on the trampoline or make minivan tents or play in the 'clay cauldron' all day~ occupying themselves and checking in on us and the progress every now and again.  They've all been so wonderful.  Such wonderfully, wonderfully sweet children I have.

I push-mowed the flower circle (the only mowing I do) and I lingered longer than usual... I admired the mower lines and sniffing that delicious smell of fresh cut grass.  I've been picking violets and doing plenty of laundry and avoiding the garden weeds like the plague.  I've been checking on the lilacs daily and looking out at the sea of lions in the yard makes me seriously consider having another go at dandelion wine after my first attempt tasted less than stellar.  We've been eating dinner outdoors every night  and opening the windows wide every morning, falling asleep to peepers and waking to birds and sunshine. I've been admiring the cherry tree leaves that popped this week and the long, elegant asparagus that I can't cut.  And oh yes- I've been admiring Matt's chin too.  He surprised me the other day with 'the shave' I have been anxiously awaiting and boy, was it worth it.  That chin of his makes my heart go pitter-pat.

Is there ever a month lovelier than May?  Is there anything better than being together?

It's so sweet how you talk about Matt :-) And hooray for the animals being able to (soon) get their own water! And all your photos are lovely, as always. You inspire me to get my camera out and capture soon of our "moments" in normal life.

I'm trying my hand at dandelion jelly this week. I figure I might as well put those lovely weeds to good use.

I love how your photos always capture the little details.

Yay, May is here!!!!

Amidst all this work I see you are taking time to savor everything around you and not let it overwhelm you. Good job! How I need to learn this! Your photos are beautiful. Blessings on you, and on your beautiful family!

I love your pictures. So pretty! We have our fencing project still to go. We need the weather to cooperate.

I know all to well how much work hauling water for critters is. We used to have to haul 40+ gallons of water from the bathtub all winter long. After about 15 years of that we finally have a hydrant in the barn. Letting your animals actually get in the creek to drink is not a good idea. This is a good article on the subject.

Mary- I got your beautiful announcement in the mail on my birthday and it made my day! What a darling girl you have~ and thank you for allowing me to share in your joy!

Terri- let me know what you think and how to do it! I'd love to try my hand at that too if you think it was a success!

Christina~ I have a fair amount of learning to do on that subject too. My camera, I have found, help me to do that a bit better. If I am feeling particularly overwhelmed, sometimes I just decide to take pictures. (If you see a glut of photos coming up on my blog, you'll now know why!) Thank you for your kind comments lately~ I appreciate them so much.

Amy- savor these last few days. I can't wait to meet that little bundle! (So glad you are blogging again so I can!)

Megan- way to be the bearer of bad news! ;-) I won't even *think* about the fact we just put the pasture in the very spot I *didn't* want it so that the animals should drink from the very place they shouldn't. No, I won't think about that.

Glad you had a productive week with the Man (but who's surprised by that?). That top picture stopped me in my tracks...strawberries! I have a crazy craving for them now, and where the heck am I supposed to get some at 6:15 a.m., huh?
