~ Woke up. Made lunch and english muffin for Mattie. Gave him a smooch and sent him on his way.
~ Two babies woke up to see him off too. They "helped" me brown ground beef and get a Crockpot meal underway.
~ woke up big kids. Made breakfast (granola cereal)
~ Children did chores, I did watering.
~ Took a hot, steamy shower and did.not.want.to.leave. (Seems like it was my first hot shower since springtime! Can it be?)
~ gathered up school books for a visit with another homeschooling Mama
~ went visiting and while out, picked up my orders of coconut oil and lye (I'll give you three guesses what I will be making!). Got home at 4:15. (So yeah- today is not going to be terribly productive!)
~ put books away
~ replanted all the perennials the neighbor dropped off and put sawdust around them for mulch
~ harvested lemon verbena and hung to dry
~ harvested last of the tomatoes to ripen inside (it will likely frost tonight.)
~ Got supper around (Crockpot beef and veggies, leftover corn casserole-I made a double batch yesterday!- and Caprese Flatbread like Olive Gardens. Did you know they are kind enough to share recipes?)
~ played a game of chess with Matt. I lost. :-(
~ sorted and dated eggs, tidied mudroom a bit
~ did dinner dishes
~ cut Matt's hair
~ swept kitchen floor
~ heading to bed now to crochet.
Tomorrow is going to be a CRAZY busy day. My to-do list will be short, but the listed items will be BIG projects. Must get rested up.

You still got a good bit done.
Visiting? With another adult? Who is a homeschooling mama? (I will not be jealous of social interaction, I will not be jealous of social interaction, I will not...)
I'm waiting on the last batch of spaghetti sauce to process- the pot still has to come up to a boil and then 45 loooong minutes.
So to pass the time, I'm ironing, making B.'s lunch, and sniffing/snuggling/kissing my sweet baby who had the nerve to be 4 weeks old today.

Just last week I was thinking I really Really REALLY need to finish that gift for Lil Mister since I am losing my chance at it being a congratulations on the newborn gift anymore. I justified myself by saying, Well. It will make a perfect CONGRATS on being ONE MONTH! gift. And who doesn't like a gift after all the gift-giving is over?!
But now, it seems I missed that milestone too! I am SUCH a loser. Thankfully, his handmade gift is not something that can be grown out of. Maybe I will get it to him for a Cograts You Are ONE! gift.
(totally pathetic.)

I'm wondering if I know who that other homeschooling mama was and wishing I were close enough still for a visit. I'm sure you had a marvelous time! :)
Do you mind sharing where you bought your oil and lye? Is it the lady in Berkshire who makes and sells soap? If so, I used to get my supplies from her, too, when we still lived close. :/ I'm trying to figure out how to get lye at a better price than I've found on the internet, shipping is pretty steep.
I love the centerpiece, too! So perfect for this season.

Thank you Mrs. B! Your note made me very happy. I got that stork embroidery runner at Salvation Army for 25cents a few years ago. Can you believe that?!
Leah~ nope. Not the same one- I met this one at our local library. But she is super nice just the same and we DID have a marvelous time.
We have friends out here who have all the ins and outs of buying like the Amish around here- cheap fruits, bulk foods, etc. We split a case of Lye (each 2# container cost the same as the internet but without the cost of shipping.)
I got the oil from the local mennonite run scratch and dent where I buy bulk things (I got 5 gallons worth and Abby will take some off of my hands.) like this and wheat berries.
If I were you, I would ask some of your many local Amish and see where they buy it from or, sometimes, they will sell it to you themselves.
I'm so glad you had a great time even if it wasn't with who I thought it might be. ;) I'd so love to meet some other local Christian homeschoolers.
I hadn't even thought about asking the local Amish! We're starting to get to know some of them pretty well since we have bought produce from them. And one of the local Amish men is doing most of the work on the new house. Maybe Scott can ask him about the lye and oils. (We just had 3 new Amish families move in down near the new house!!! :D)
