What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Two Weeks

Two week s old today. *sigh*

Here are the "keeper" shots of Monday's photo-therapy session. :-)

The above cocoon was one of the pre-baby projects I ran out of time to share. I knit it myself, though I am still not a confident knitter. I think the big huge holes made it easy to think I could hide my mistakes.

My friend Nanci made up a preliminary pattern for me that I sized down a wee bit. (Thank you again Nanci! I am so happy to have this photo-prop, since hydrangea hats and handkerchief bonnets are out of the question...)

Stocking caps were another pre-baby project I wanted to create, but I never could find a crochet pattern for them. All I ever found were knit, which I have to learn how to do well one of these days!

In the meantime, I found an Etsy seller with great prices, a sweet personality (yes, that matters to me!) and quick delivery (and incidentally, free shipping!) which says a lot since she is from IRELAND. Yowza. I now own hats from Ireland. How cool is that?!?

So I used some of my saved church-cleaning money and splurged. I consider it a business investment anyway. (You'll see why very soon...)

You must check out her Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/justynajustyna

I LOVE the bright colors of the aqua and red. That is one of my all-time favorite color combinations. EVER.

But I really love the creamy soft and calming green and white one too.

Now here is my dilemma. I can't chose a favorite!

I need a picture for birth announcements and a picture for thank you notes. (You didn't think I could send MAIL without pictures, did you?!? Here is a secret: I even make my own photo return address labels. I am that pathetic. And now you know.)

So my question is: are any of these suitable and/or which would be best for which?

Or maybe I should rethink the birth announcement and have a photo that you can see Judah's hair in. Do birth announcements do better with upclose head shots or full body shots? Eyes opened or closed? Cute hats or hair? Am I thinking too hard on this? (wait. Don't answer that one.)

So if ya wanna~ I'd love to hear your opinion. And if you wanna cast your vote, you can take this handy-dandy two question survey I created! (Aren't I getting all high-tech?!?!)

What think ye???

A thought or two on the pictures for the notes...
I love all of them, but #1 is my favorite. Were it me, I'd use that for the birth announcement. I think the rest of them in hats are too similar for the thank you notes. And, no offense, but I wouldn't send a picture with the cord still attached (but that's just me). I think I would make a collage out of several of the pics you've posted to go with the thank you cards. The one of you and J, Matt and J, the kids and J, some of the earliest ones or the close ups of ear, foot, etc. Done in black and white, it could be very striking.
So happy for all of you! Blessings...

I honestly prefer the yawning shot yesterday to any of the ones you shared today. Babies have such darling yawns!

Of course, they are all precious, but #7 gets my vote! Can I come pinch his cheeks? I wouldn't pinch very hard, I promise :).

I think you should do a collage photo. Then we can have more than one. Yes, I am selfish. I want more than one!!!

But if I have to choose one, I choose #7. I love the green hat and the open eyes.

My favorites are one and three. My guess is that after this survey, you will be more undecided than ever. Perhaps, it would be best to just follow your own preference in things like this.

I like 5 because it has hair and no cord and is purely him, not hat or color distraction. I like 3 because it is a darling look at his face. But you can't really go wrong, right?

One and three are my favorite photos. I think I like the close-up and the looks. Sleeping babies can always look good.

After reading the other comments I see that is exercise must have been very helpful to you =)

Maybe you'd better make it a Thanksgiving card. And then there's the Christmas photo--save the hat for that!

First of all, congratulations on your beautiful, healthy new son! I've been reading here for some time now and enjoy thoroughly you! I think I commented once a couple of years ago and I feel moved to say this: Birth Announcements are a reflection of you and your family and what feels and looks good to you. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks and there's no right or wrong way to do a birth announcement. If you are having trouble picking, perhaps a collage of photos would work. They are all so beautiful. You, your husband, and the kids should all sit down and choose the favorite by a process of elimination. It'll no doubt be hard as they are all so lovely. Can't wait to see what you choose!

My favorites are not the popular ones. Babies look so different when they have their eyes open so I chose ones where Judah had his eyes opened. I also like close up face shots so you can see the baby's personality better. Does that make sense? Anyway, Judah is a handsome baby boy whichever ones you choose! :)

I was going to make a cocoon for Hannah but never got around to doing it. I'll have to make one up anyway. I'm sure I'll use it for the next baby if we are so blessed.

Thanks for sharing the lady from Ireland's etsy shop address. I look forward to browsing through her shop.

I just have to say that I LOVE the pictures where you can see Judah's cord. It's such a reminder of how they were nourished and cared for before birth. My babies always lose their cords within the first 4 or 5 days.

Wow, looks like a lot of people like the sleeping baby.

I like to see his eyes, so 3 and 7 are my favorites, in that order.

1 and/or 3

He makes my ovaries twitch!

He's a cutie! I've never much liked looking at the cord in real life so I don't like the photos with the cord showing as much. I love the closed eyes- that looks so sweet to me. And the aqua and red hat is very cheerful.
