What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Silent on the subject

Ever since I added home education into the mix, I have had a terrible time being able to accomplish all that I would LIKE to accomplish.
It concerns me that if phonics and simple math lessons seem to dictate the day, I wonder how it will be to add children and subjects to this mix?!? It is becoming more and more apparent to me just how much of a commitment is made when parents decide to educate their children at home. I also know, there is no more worthwhile pursuit of your time and energies. So homeschooling families are quickly earning my utmost respect.

That said, it is still frustrating when I want to pour out in type all that has been in my thoughts rolling around my head, I want to stitch all the projects laying in wait, I'd like to teach many more things to my children AND to myself, I'd love to be able to seek out beautiful photographs waiting to happen, and I CAN'T.

It doesn't help that most days I head to bed right after the kids because I am feeling ill. A constant feeling with Bunkin, and a new experience from my Boo and Peanut pregnancies.

I am fighting from feeling like a lazy bones, and I make myself sick with pining over my craft room (a room I haven't visited in ages...)

On the otherhand, my voice grows hoarse with story telling (and BOTH children are still unsatiated), puzzles pieces fly together, the rainforest is becoming not so much a mystery, the weather is being enjoyed to its fullest, Corynn is able to read the simplest BOB books (so progress IS being made), we are planting hope along with seeds and playing in the dirt, and have just completed our lunchtime Bible book and have started afresh.

So, in truth, our days are still filled with jewels and treasures, the children are being drowned with quality time and despite not using an actual 'book curriculum' for other subjects, the children are learning MORE than just phonics and math skills each and every day. If I sit and think about it, they are learning TREMENDOUSLY more than that!)

If, for a time, this blog suffers a bit, if my fabric stash doesn't dwindle, the crochet hook lacks it's trademark 'tink', and if I grow in wisdom quietly rather than sharing my thoughts, I'll still be better off-because Life just keeps happening and the truly important things ARE taking place.

Even if I can't adequately share it with the world.

Rebecca, you are right that homeschooling does eat up a huge chunk of your day, especially as they get older. Don't forget your children are little and you are pregnant. Something has to give. There will always be time for crafts and photographs and blogging later on. Your children won't be little forever!

I've come to the conclusion that I just have refocus my priorities. I have 3 children (2 teens) that have special needs so for me homeschooling literally takes up most of my time. I can't just leave them at a table to do work. However, from God's perspective I am doing major things to further His kingdom by pouring my life into raising children who love Him and will grow to serve Him.

Choosing your children over other things is truly a great and wonderful sacrifice. You are making the right choices. As my sister-in-law's sign in her home states..."Cleaning the home while the children are growing is like shoveling the snow when the snow is still snowing." Your children, not the fabric, dishes, or even blogging are the priority right now, as it should be! I'm proud of you. Especially with the Bumpkin...your plate is very full right now. Take it easy and remember that God will not give you more than you can handle.

Try Seabands for nausea. They are in the pharmacy section of the grocery store and are lovely little gray wrist bands with a white button that pushes a pressure point in your wrist. They are traditionally for motion sickness, but work great for morning sickness. And such a fashion statement. Cough.
Also, I ate chocolate pudding and saltines for breakfast everyday with Audrey.(old Navy sea sickness trick), it never came back up, and I ended up feeling better the rest of the day, because I still had breakfast in me.
Lastly, this time around, when I start feeling particularily bad, and handfull of pretzels, and a small glass of ginger-ale (Seagrams only, in my case)seems to get me back on my feet.
A few suggestions from one prego to another, and praying for more good days than bad.

Though others may disagree, you are in the midst of the hardest part of homeschooling. Do you remember seeing commercials MANY, MANY moons ago about RIF? Reading is Fundamental. Once they can read, you are no longer a slave to tell them every single thing they need to be doing. IN FACT, they are better off if you DON'T tell them once they can read. Reading comprehension, you know!

There's time aplenty for all of the things you want to do, though it may not seem so today. It's taken me years to be able to do what I'm interested in, and even now I can't always get it all done. Hang in there. You're doing well!

The number one most important thing for you to do now is to take care of yourself! I'll tell you this a thousand times, kiddo...your children have PLENTY of time to learn things! And trust me, the crocheting, etc., isn't going anywhere. Come to think of it, neither are the dishes. Relax. Get yourself some nice ginger tea to sip (makes great ice tea, too) and maybe a little vanilla yogurt. And I hope you feel better soon! Believe me, there isn't a mommy out here who doesn't feel for you!
Oh, and don't you DARE call yourself a 'lazybones'--ever!!! You aren't lazy. You're pregnant, with two little ones. The great and powerful Mom2fur has spoken! (Just kidding about the great and powerful bit--not kidding about telling you to stop being so hard on yourself.)

Our speaker at Mops today shared Ecc. 3---Remember that there is a season for everything--just not everything at once. Can we have the autumn harvest before or at the same time as the spring planting?
