What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Vakay

The buds are just barely unfurling and yet I am already getting whiffs of lilac's sweet perfume. It isn't coincidence I asked that my clothesline be put up next to the lilacs...

Laundry, lots of it, after a week of sick children heaving in the night until our sheet supply was exhausted and towels had to suffice. A week of spring cleaning when all I really wanted to do was...well, NOT spring clean. (BTW, I haven't even gotten to the upstairs. ugh.)

The unpleasantness of the indoors only greatly magnified the splendor of the outdoors, and I escaped many a time to go walking, inhaling the freshness and spotting bits of beauty. I think I will give you a tour~maybe tomorrow.

After spending an entire week on posting single, solitary photos of sewing show and tells, my computer is fairly BURSTING with the abundance of photo snippets of life moving on~being lived and enjoyed to its fullest.

I'd like to get caught up on those this week but this week can go one of two ways:

1) I have absolutely no time at all to blog
2) I have an abundance of time to blog.

You see, my Hubs took his week of vacation this week. No exotic plans or destinations, just scribbled to-do lists and hard work. We've never had what most would consider vacations. Once we went to a hotel room over night and took the kids to the zoo. That was exciting.

Every penny is spoken for these days, and every moment could be spent working around the property. There is much that we have accomplished but much more yet to be done. Don't get me wrong: even though we've never taken a bonafide "family vacation", I don't miss it. I don't pine for beaches or camping, or theme parks. Because for us, it's the togetherness that makes it special.

This year especially, with Matt working so much and away from home so often, we cherish and value his home time all the more. To be together and have a seven days with him near, present, it hardly seems possible!

But those seven days are going to be fairly bursting with busyness, too. Pig fences to put up (did I mention our newest project?), lasagna gardens to build, floor to ceiling bookcases and well, Mattie's list might even surpass the big guy's naughty/nice list.

So, depending on how productive HE is, will determine how productive I am on this blog. His work might leave me all sorts of free time since the children are stuck like glue to him. On the other hand, any moment he ISN'T working, *I* am stuck like glue to him. We'll see how it works out. Seeing how much he has accomplished even just today has me thinking you'll be seeing me lots and lots.

We celebrated his first day home with homemade PA Dutch FUNNEL CAKES! Oh me, oh my. And since there is oil left in the pan, Fried Chicken is on the menu for tonight.

I know this for sure, every moment is going to be a celebration. Because, well, we just can't get enough of him.

I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how much I admire you: the way you make staying at home special, how you compliment and respect your husband, how you rarely complain and instead model contentment.

Thank you for encouraging me over the years I've read your blog.

I agree with the "just being together" vacations. Yes, it would be fun to do a long trip, and yes, someday we would like to, but having B. around, getting things done, being lazy, or little day trips are much to be preferred.
Pigs, huh? I am having farm envy.

Have a wonderful week with your hubby! Just think of all the accomplishments you will be able to credit getting done :)
