What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Second Glances

Summer flies by at breakneck speed. This is how I love to live, long to live: Fresh garden dinners, lingering evening light, and cool showers. Barefeet and hanging clothes and no coats to zip or shoes to tie, and always...always time enough for visiting.

The goodness of summer makes it fly, too quickly. All the more reason for lingering on the good things, taking second glances....

and being thankful.

So grateful for~

#478- cool showers, indoors and out

(a picnic sprinkler-in which she can escape if she wants to, very unlike playing with brother in the hose)

#479~ going visiting

#480~ reading in bed, with a fan blowing you nearly away

#481~ a husband who is a good steward of what God has given, even if it is only given for a time

( a girl infatuated with cows)

#482~ a "date" with a sister

#483~ dressing up, just because we can

#484~ walking at dusk

#485~ chocolate mousse cake, just a slice, shared. soooooo good

(in which I look like a football player fully garbed without a helmet instead of a nine-month pregnant woman. So very NOT cute. But my sister is!)

#486~ a tough guy, who could be a crybaby, but isn't

#487~ a boychild who wouldn't know what lazy was if it slapped him in the face.

(the cowboy at work, as usual)

#488~ rabbits who leave some tomatoes for us

#489~ suppers from right outside the door

(Zucchini Pie~recipe here)

#490~Dutch girls in barns

(in which girl waits to show newest baton tricks)

#491
~ dancing like no one is watching

(in which girl dances on my heart)

#492~ occasional breezes
#493~ bare toes
#494~ accomplishments, even the small ones
#495~ patio eating
#496~ once lost, now found Honeymoon pictures.

(a sun-scorched gal and a hottie tottie, madly in love.)

#497~ a bountiful harvest

#498~ jars, always filling

(volcano pickles, recipe here)

#499~ perseverance, like the oil that miraculously never ran dry

#500~ boys who decide to cut their OWN hair instead of their sisters' and hair that can be remedied with a nice short, buzz. Buzz cuts don't look to bad on boys---would be devastating on girls.

( the new 'do)

#501~ a sister who lines the soon-to-be-filled nursery with WELCOME HOME Queen Anne's Lace

#502~ those last sweet moments of feeling kicks and squirms and feet and tickles from within. Watching a belly move and giggling over hiccups, not your own. Never being alone.

#478 ~ #502 beautiful second glances of beauty in my life, given by the only One who can.

holy experience

I join you in gratitude for the beautiful and leisurely summer months.
Lovely list! Lovely pictures! And you DO NOT look like a football player dressed in full uniform! You are glowing!

As I told you on the phone, even though the picture of us isn't the perfect angle, it's perfect because it captures our wonderful evening and two sister's enjoying life together :) Love Ya Beautiful Mama to Be :)
