What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

All Things Christmas

This picture cracks me up. Riding the elephant is a fun thing that this Papa does. He has even been known to take them to bed that way. The minute he gets on the floor-for whatever reason- the kids high-tail it over to him. Andrew was not pleased that he couldn't get up by himself.

And this photo here is super blurry, but I HAD to post it anyway, because I love the childrens' faces in it. So Happy are they! Even the Panda bear....now that he is up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for us we are consumed with all things Christmas. Cookies, snow, present wrapping, Christmas card writing, shopping, warm and milky Chai tea (recipe forthcoming), dollhouse preparations, peppermint, candles, tree flickers, good old Bing. I am loving every single minute of it.
Last night, as Matt finished making the rooms of the dollhouse I made a set of bunkbeds and a bed for the Mom and Pops. I can't wait to share them with you. I went to A.C.Moore and used my 40% off coupon to buy a toilet and bathtub set. (No WAY I can make THOSE things! hehehe) It is all coming together.
Matt's part in the dollhouse is nearly over-he will make a few windows later and put on the armoire doors-but all that comes after I finish painting the inside. I will probably consume myself with that to try and forget that this very weekend everyone else that I love is going to be gathered together, celebrating my new niece Cassandra's adoption into my sisters' and brother-in-laws family and on Sunday, her adoption into the body of Christ. Matt working, snow, and a 4 hour drive is keeping me away and making me miss what I REALLY don't want to miss.
So, instead, I get to paint walls. Fabulous. I am going to try and make bed linens, curtains, and rugs this weekend too.
Anyway. Wow. This post turned into a pity party for me! Sorry!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and enjoying this season for all that it is...
I love reading your blog! You always post something interesting and usually with pictures! I know what it's like to miss out on something you really don't want to miss! We are missionaries here in Mexico, over 2,000 miles from my family and will be completely alone for Christmas! The thing I love most about the holidays is FAMILY! God Bless you and yours...
I love reading your blog too. :) And I love those pictures of Matt and the kids. In that second one, because of the angle and because Matt is tall, it really reminds me of an elephant because of the height. So fun though, reminds me of how Doug wrestles with our kids and gives the rides all the time on the floor.
We are missing Nolan's baby dedication this weekend too (what a coincidence that Cassandra and Nolan are being dedicated/baptised on the same Sunday!), although I know that is nothing compared to the specialness of Cassandra's adoption party. Are you going to NY for Christmas?
Lovingly, Betsy
P.S. It makes so much more sense that you only see each of my posts rather than my whole blog, in that you didn't notice the ticker, because I know you are a very observant person, Rebecca! lol
Rebecca-I totally feel your pain. We live 4 hours from my family, and with Warren in the ministry, traveling weekends just isn't possible most of the time. It's hard to miss out on family gatherings when your heart really wants to be there.
So, how did the doll house turn out? What colors did you use? I can't wait to see pictures!
Christmas blessings-Andie
PS...I've been trying to make my Christmas goodies here, too...but my FAVORITE (cinnamon popcorn) I can't make without red hot candies...and NO ONE has them! Everyone is OUT! :-(
Wow Jana. It is GREAT to hear from you! Thanks for taking time out to visit me every now and again! Mexico is very dear to our hearts, too. My husband has worked with Mexicans the entire time we have been married-and has actually become fluent because of it! May the Lord bless you in your ministry out there!
Andie~Cinnamon popcorn?!?! That sounds AMAZING! Any chance, when you DO find the red hots, that you can post a recipe?! Hey-if it means posting the recipe I will mail you some MYSELF! :-)
Mom2Fur~That's exciting! I am so glad you liked it!
Judy~ feel free to ask any questions you have here on my blog in the comments section, in the chatbox, OR if you would like you could email me at sgrbear724 at yahoo dot com!
Thanks for your interest!
We missed you, too! I was disappointed not to seize an extra chance to visit, but it made complete sense with the next TWO weekends you had in store.
