What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Project Dollhouse: Matt's end

For anyone making a unique armoire-like bookcase dollhouse...here are a few tips.

The bigger the better. In fact, since you are already making it-you might as well make it multi-functional. A bookcase. A room divider. A storage barn. Hey~you could make it the size of a wall for an easy repair if ever, say, a car were to drive through your living room and left a huge hole.

Make sure the boards are standing up straight. If necessary, nail, unnail and renail for complete accuracy.

Take care of all sharp ends, unless your child needs a finger amputated and you don't want to pay the hospital bills...

Never, and I mean NEVER look into the face of a nailgun. It just ISN'T done.

ALWAYS lay a sheet down-so when you are done, you can lay down and take a nap.

Simply MUST buy glue in bulk-for all the woodworking projects your wifey has in mind for you... Look here- 33% more! FREE!

In the end, it is absolutely ESSENTIAL that you act as though you love your wife, even though you harbor great resentment toward said wifey because of all her 'genius' ideas that require loads of work from you in the wee and few hours you are not working.

Awww, I think he's doing a great job! It looks really nice, so far. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Listen, I can't tell how big it really is, but...if you haven't already thought of this, you might want to bolt it to the wall with an eye hook or something so the kids don't pull it down on themselves.

Very funny! If he's like my guy - he wouldn't be doing it unless he wanted to. And, you should see the immense CRADLE formerly mentioned guy made a few years ago - talk about BIG! Anyway, your precious daughter is going to LOVE this dollhouse!

Thanks everyone for your comments on the progress. Matt is putting the doors on it today but won't be able to cut out the shaped windows until he borrows a bit (or something) from his Dad. Meanwhile-I am going to be BUSY!

His Dad doesn't believe I will get the inside done...but his dad OBVIOUSLY doesn't know me very well because when I set my mind on something it gets done-even if I have to stay up an entire night to finish it!

Mom2Fur~ I have thought of that myself...especially with the littlest monkey we have here!

Victoria~ that is funny you should mention it. My guy also built a cradle for our firstborn (and all the future Newmans) and it too, was larger than life. But sweet and perfect, nonetheless! :-)

Rebecca, sometime I would love to see a blog on your time-management skills. How you keep your family, lovely home, and still find time for all these things you love to do is beyond me!
