What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

The Post with the Most Links

Posted by Picasa

Several friends were interested in finding the cd I spoke about in a previous post which led me to believe that sharing a few resources might be welcomed to. I thought I might answer the question here, and recommend a few more resources for you to delve into if ever you have the chance.

The cd I spoke about previously, Home is Where the Heart is: Teaching our Daughters to Cherish Being Keepers at Home is put out by Vision Forum. With a gift certificate I got in December, I was able to purchase the Victorious Household three cd-set which also contains Bewitched By the World and Twenty Four Hours is All You Get.

I enjoyed them all but my favorite was Home is Where the Heart Is. Susan Bradick was joined by her grown daughters. One particular daughter really gave sound advice. All were enlightening and thought-provoking.

Also from Vision Forum, we have Uniting Church and Home. Very good. You certainly won't need much more than this-10 cd's will keep you busy for a LONG time! :-)

I also have a cd called What My Parents Did Right by Crystal Paine of Biblical Womanhood. They had a fabulous sale during December (I think) too that allowed you to purchase cd's and ebooks for $2.00, if I remember correctly. I have not yet had the opportunity to listen to this, but I am very excited to do so when I get the chance. I need all the parenting advice I can possibly get! :-)

Here is a BIG push for Matt's and my personal mentors, the Wilsons. Anything and everything they have is worthwhile to read, listen to, and study. Seriously. I have not yet found anything that would deter me from recommending them. We have adopted more ideals in parenting, in marriage, in worship, in finances from them than from anyone else. Doug and his wife, Nancy have blogs that I would heartily recommend.

Canon Press is a FANTASTIC website, that is supported in part by all the money we send to it in exchange for their gems! They house many of the Wilsons' books, audio cd's and such. Some favorites of ours are the cd set on Feminine Modesty (though ours is the old cover...waaahhhh) and That Wonderful Cup. I believe we also have Reforming Marriage, but that too was bought several years ago and I don't know where it has gotten to, so I can't be SURE. That's it for the ones we have presently but we are due to get a package in the mail with QUITE a few...which I am just SO excited about! It has been so long since I ordered them that I I now forget what I ordered but I will let you know about them as soon as I receive them!

We always wait until sales come up to purchase cd's like this so you may not be able to purchase cd's. A great place I like to go for 'free listening' is again, Doug Wilson. He shares his weekly sermons here. You can read them or listen to them for free! So, don't be disheartened if you can't afford an audio set right now, because these don't cost a thing.

Well, that's all for now. I suppose before I close I should qualify a few things here.

1) I don't always agree with EVERYTHING that every author/speaker says and so I can't endorse every single word. That said, with wisdom we are able to formulate our own opinions and if you wait to listen/read something that ONLY mirrors what you already believe than no growth will be had. You will not be forced to CONTEMPLATE things. You will not be forced to DEFEND. So one must never filter resources hoping to agree with everything said. It will never be. If a sentence or two in any of these cd's gets your panties all in a bunch, don't come write me a nastygram. Not everyone agrees ALL the time on every little thing and that is OK!

2) With all these audio books and cd's, I thought I should conclude with the assurance that indeed, I DO know how to read and truly enjoy it! I read every single day. However, my time for 'real reading' is limited so I enjoy 'listening' while I am preoccupied with work, while driving in the car, etc. Just so you know-I CAN read. ;-)

3) I think I just broke a record or something. Never before have I used that hyperlink button so much.... This post will go down in history known as The Post with the Most Links.

sorry about that...I pulled up your blog and only saw the flower pic, I didn't see the post you worked so hard on. Me and my assumptions!
Thanks for praying for me and my hubby earlier. In case you haven't checked back, he's home safe and sound. A tiny bit of car trouble and his cell phone was in the car while he was trying to fix the trouble. Oh well...at least he's home and safe. Again, thanks for the prayers!
Blessings-Andie

PS...Matt, didn't mean to get you in trouble!!! The last time I got flowers was for our 10th anniversary (almost 2 years ago) and before that it was almost 8 years...not including each time I've given birth, each time I have a baby I get a few roses...that won't be happening again that we know of!! :o)

I can't get the Feminine Modesty link to work!

I just received "How Modern Churches are Harming Families" today from Vision Forum. It's very, very interesting. I also ordered "Learning to Think Like a Christian" or something to that effect. They're one of my favorites!

Blessings--

Andie~you didn't get him in trouble. But maybe you did put a bug in his ear-so for that I am grateful! ;-)
So glad your hubby is home, safe and sound. I would have been beside myself with worry too!

It works fine when I do it from the blog post, but if this doesn't work -simply go to canonpress.org and type in Feminine Modesty in the search engine. It will pop up!
