What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Retired Cowboy

His one Christmas gift became his every day companion.

They saw him through snow, sleet, ice, rain, and mud puddles a plenty.

They kicked the dirt, carried him reliably and almost always did so on the wrong feet.

But seven months of every day wears on a sole eventually.

I told the Panda we would have to be retiring his cowboy boots when peeks of red flashed beligerantly back at me and he responded in despair.

"But how I gonna be COWBOY anymow? I need my cowboy boots! I a real cowboy! I cowboy Andy, Mama!"

I know, Panda, I know.

I've been on a hunt for cheap cowboy boots ever since, to no avail. Been outbid on ebay countless times.

I hope I find some soon---before the cowboy retires completely.

Because a REAL cowboy needs some boots!

Oh, I have some boots, I think! It was too cold up here for our youngest to wear them all the time. Let me go check in the closet...

Argghhh. They are size 3, the size 11's have a hole in them... but I know where I can find more. There is a freecycle going on this weekend and I KNOW there will be some boots there. (A friend is putting hers in so I will just see what sizes she has...) Talk to you later!

Rebecca, my son Noah LOVES his cowboy boots...they were el cheapo ones from Walmart that he also got for Christmas in '07!! He wore them all spring of '08 and fall/winter of '08 & '09 and he probably will still wear them again this fall/winter (I bought them a bit big!) He likes his crocs/sandals right now but otherwise I can't get those boots off him! SO CUTE!!! :)

Oh, I found out that all the boots are size 9 or smaller. Would you be interested in the size 3's? They are just collecting dust in the back of the closet so if you would like them....

Hope you have a wonderful week! Keep us in prayer as the smoke has blown back in! It's a yellow gray world out there right now....

YES PEGGY! I'd LOVE them! He'll be in three soon enough! YAY! (I better not show them to him though, because he will wear them out before they even properly fit him!)

I couldn't help but chuckle over this post. He's 25 now but 21 years ago I broke his heart when I tossed his cowboy boots. The were split from top to heel at the back seam and he wore them anyway. And the first trip to the trash didn't work. For some reason he was digging in the trashcan and found them and came lugging them back into the house saying "Somebody threw my good cowboy boots away!"

Wonderful teary eyed memory for me now.
