What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Now, I know, pictures of a toad might not stir up the same feelings of awe and inpiration to some as it does to me. In fact, I don't think it would be TOO awful bizarre if it might just gross some people out.

Now, Renaissance is a HAPPY place (most of the time) and I certainly would hate to have visitors leave with a bad taste in their mouths. And Mr. Toad might just cause that reaction in some cases.

So, I will change the subject and offer these few photos as a good diversion. So that you might leave here, thinking HAPPY thoughts. Not about beady eyes and bodies covered in warts.

You're welcome.

Today was just one of those days when I needed a bit of a pick me up. I am praising God for allowing me the opportunity to get a pick-me-up simply by gathering flowers from my own yard. Really simplifies things, ya know? No need to drive up town, no need to spend money on bouquets of flowers, no need to get all disappointed when you hope and hope and inwardly expect your husband to get you flowers and then he doesn't. Nope. It's much easier just to do it yourself.

(For the record: the whole husband thing-is purely hypothetical. No-my husband doesn't surprise me with flowers as much as I would like him to. It is a rarity. That would be impossible, anyway, because well-I sure would love that EVERY day!!! :-) But I suppose the unplanned and unexpected gifts, given few and far between, have taught me to relish them that much more. So when I found a few springs of black-eyes susans on my seat in the car on our way to church this past Sunday, that Matt had thoughtfully placed there just moments before, the feelings of joy that simple act produced were multiplied tenfold. I felt that joy reflected in me as I tucked several flowers in my up-done hair and wore them, with pride and thanksgiving, into God's house to worship Him.)

My hubby runs several miles each day, and every once in a while he brings back a bouqet of flowers that he stopped to pick for me. Yes, they are more beautiful than if he had spent $100 on them.

I love hearing about your worship experiences. Like when you told about the kids staying with you in the service. Yep. You're my kind of people. May I ask what denomination you are? I have a hunch between things that you write(infant baptism), and your husbands site. (Peter Leithart)

Black(brown)-eyed susans are among my favorite wildflowers. What a sweet gift.
