What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

The Help

Really, none of this would have been possible without the slave labor.

They are really amazing kids, these.

And one more because his fat little face is so funny:

Your kids are beautiful and your garden is so "weed-free"!!! We have a garden that has to be fenced (electric even!) to keep the deer from taking all the harvest. I have a really hard time keeping the weeds and grass under control once the harvest begins. I see you have a black ground cover between rows. Mind sharing what that product is? I might try it next year! Enjoy your blogs immensely!

Thank you Jan! The black cover works very well indeed- though in fairness, you should see the garden THESE days! These photos were taken while we were still spending garden time weeding and hadn't yet replaced it with harvesting.

The black weed cover I got on Amazon and I just price-shopped. Just be sure to get the woven stuff. Some black weed cover is a very fine, thin plastic that only lasts one season. This stuff is pricier (and can be a MESS when it unravels!) but works for several years.
