What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Procrastination Pays

Every now and again I make a decision that might at first seem to be a bit unintelligent (and sometimes, really is! hehehe). Like, say for example: going to the park for an adventure when there is several loads of laundry to be folded, the kitchen needs to be cleaned, projects need to be completed, etc. etc. Ya. Pretty dumb, right? At first glance, perhaps. But THIS time, it was one of those spontaneous decisions that I don't for a minute regret.

I knew the weather was going to be turning chilly~and rainy, and gray and I knew that there was some serious autumn beauty needing to be discovered.

So~I packed up the lunch basket and snuck it in the car yesterday morning. Then I told Corynn a story about two children who had been playing outside when their Mama called them in to go potty. And the little girl obeyed right away and didn't even ask why until AFTER she had obeyed. Then the girl said, "Why Mama, did you want me to go potty?" and the Mama said, "Because we are going on an ADVENTURE!" At that point Corynn realized the story was about her and you should have seen the expression on her face! Priceless.

We went to the same old park we ALWAYS go to, but it wasn't a same old same old trip. This day, we trekked AROUND the reservoir to the other side of our usual picnic spot. We laid out our blanket under the cascading weeping willow that we always admire from afar which was indeed a treat, but the real reason I had chosen this far off spot-was to bear witness to the WONDERFUL color changes of the season. It was magnificent.

And I am SO thankful we went. Especially as I peer out the window and see only foggy gray. It was MORE important to let the children run and play out of doors, and to experience the peak of Autumn beauty through exploration-then to finish folding laundry.

You know what though? I DID finish all the tasks that needed to be done yesterday anyhow. But getting right to the job once we got home.

So really, I got the best of both worlds! ;-)

Oh I'm so glad you did the really sensible thing... let your family enjoy a glorious day out of doors! So much more sensible than sitting home and doing laundry! You are wise for your years.

And have lucky children too!

On "The 11," -smile-. Let me elaborate a bit. Yes, I so admire all such families as Jewels, who raise wonderful children, especially in this day and age. Believe me, I'd much rather know that these beautiful families were proliferating, especially in the face of each Muslim woman's duty to produce 5 children. Europe is already being 'over taken' by sheer numbers, and that can not be good for freedom of any kind. Let alone freedom of religion.

As to the -sigh- about the 11th... I would feel that this one mother had done her part. I would feel that her body had done as much procreating as it was meant to _safely_ do. I would feel that it was time to cease procreation and time to totally concentrate on raising a wonderful family and enjoying this wonderful family. In other words, I would vote for a break for this wonderful mother! :-)

But again! And always! These are my views. Not meant to be imposed on anyone else. I'd never say that to her!!!!! Heavens no! I'd never be so unkind or unfeeling, as to say it to her. {Oh my! Now I can worry that she has a blog and/or she reads your blog! Oh my! Now I can worry about hurting her! Oh sigh!}

All I can hope is that she does not read your blog, being way too busy to do so. But if she does, give me her addy and I will apologize to her, personally. I did not want to offend her, with my comment in your blog.

You have your priorities straight! The dishes and laundry will be there...but the kids won't be little and the leaves won't be just those amazing shades forever. IMHO, it is more important to listen to your heart than to the furniture. "Take the kids to the park" sounds a lot better than "dust me!"--doesn't it, LOL?
