What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

In its stead

Sunday we were so excited to visit a church in Ithaca. We checked online to see what time it began and the website told us the service was from 11:00-12:00. We got all packed up, dressed and prepared and headed out. On our way, we spoke excitedly about the church and all that the service would hold.

By the time we arrived, we were very excited, Corynn especially.

Singing was already going on so we headed on in (wondering if service must have started early, since we arrived 15 minutes early.) On the door was a sign saying that service was 10am-12 and Sunday School was 12:30 onward.

We were an HOUR late! Matt refused to go into a service an hour late, and we were to meet up with my parents at around 12:30/1:00 so we had lots of time to kill.

Most churches were already over, since most churches begin at 10:00.

We were all depressed as we got quietly back in the car and drove away.

And yes, tears were shed.

Matt took us to a nearby park where we spent the next 40 minutes or so enjoying the outworking of God's hands.

It wasn't the same.

Though you were sad not to go to church, aren't you glad your whole family was SAD NOT TO GO TO CHURCH? How wonderful that it's such a part of your lives.

Hm. That never really occurred to me. Very good point and now that I have thought about it-I am. You are just full of those (good points), aren't you, Victoria? ;-)
