What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Tasks to the Wind

See those woodchips on the bottom of that door? We have a a creature-prisoner in our midst.

Last night, as I was getting ready for bed, I heard something in the kitchen closet. What was I THINKING when I opened the door? I KNEW something would be in there. I KNEW it would freak me out. I guess I thought it would be a mouse, though. Instead, it was a brown creature three TIMES the size of a mouse with huge black beady eyes. And it is fast.

The people who rented this house before us now live across the street from us, and one night this summer as we visited on the patio, they asked if we had seen any little visitors go bump in the night. They warned us that flying squirrels were holed up in the roof and came down from time to time.

Funny thing it is-If we stumbled on the little guy OUTSIDE, Corynn and I would try to lure him to us with bread to get a closer view to the ‘cutie’. INSIDE our home, though, it is a little beastie who gives me a BAD case of the heebie jeebies.

I ran to wake Matt up and he tried to catch the yucky little thing but to no avail so he slammed the door shut again and told me that he would get it tomorrow when he gets home. Now Monday’s are Matt’s LONG day and he probably won’t show up until around 6:00 tonight! WHAT am I going to do all day, sharing my home with a little beastie!?!?!

I could unpack from the week-end, I could clean up this mess of a house, do laundry, any number of things. I think I will go shopping. When there is no REASON to go shopping, I don’t-but today I think there is a GOOD reason.

I will be out of here when the little beastie escapes through a beastie-made hole in the door.

UGH!

Eeeeeeeeeek!!! A flying squirrel. Never have seen one and I'm very glad. Yes, it will be a long, long day... sitting there and hearing the beastie trying to get out. Oh sigh.

Please report back tonight, after Matt has taken care of it. {aren't men a handy thing, to have around the house? -grin-}

When you get the chance, would you please email me at the mail box where I have Blogger things come into? Not sure if it will show as a clickable link. So, I'll do it regular... bk2nus@yahoo.com. And then, the *sneaky* way, which is used, when the Net will _not_ do a proper link... bk2nus at yahoo dot com.

Thank you.

as long as it's not a rat....
I'll never forget the smell of them poisoned and rotting away somewhere in the walls or ceiling of our bedroom in Ithaca.....

One thing I learned while living on the farm was mice cannot eat through steel wool. I plugged every hole I could find with steel wool and it worked like a charm. Maybe this would work with squirrels; however, the holes are going to be much larger. Maybe your local pest control company can help you. Or animal control.

LOL I know JUST how you feel! The last person that lived here had chipmonks, squrlls, mice and rats! He fed the chipmonks/squrlls in the front sun porch so they were used to coming in grrrr. It's taken us a few years lots of blocking up/traps/and bait (for the rats/mice) to get rid of them. Still they try to come back when the weather gets real cold.
Yes it is handy to have a dh that will get rid of them!! :-D

Well, the little varmint escaped. Don't have a clue where he is. I can only hope the sight of us and the WHAM of the door slamming on him scared him enough to go back to where he came from. OUTSIDE.
